this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Yes the defense is horrible , but that's not likely to change for the rest of the season. We need to protect them by running the ball...

Re: Payton, it was on you.
By being aggressive and throwing it on 3rd down we were trying to protect them! We know they can't make a stop so we weren't playing it safe for a FG. We went for a first down so we could eat more clock or score a TD. So essentially you're arguing against your own point.

Re: Payton, it was on you.
I agree we should of ran more throughout the game. I'm talking specifically about that 3rd down play. On that 3rd and 5, throwing was the right call. It was being aggressive because we know the defense won't make a stop. But for the first 3+ quarters you're right, we should of ran way more.

I get where you're coming from, a first there and the game is essentially iced. But as a coach you need to play to the situation. Brees was getting pressured all game and Cleveland knew what was coming. Play it safe, this isn't the Super Bowl where you can have that all or nothing mindset, we need to win games.

Re: Payton, it was on you.
I have never seen a team that tries to protect it's lead by passing*. Ingram is on fire this year, but Sean is playing Brees like he owns him in a fantasy league.

Less than 3 minutes to go in the game and you're up by 1 and the team has the ball at their own 4 yard line... how was that call what cost us the game, anyone...anyone

Coulda, woulda, shoulda. We lost. Guess our expectations were unreal. IMO, this isn't SP's or RR's fault. It's there players'. Mostly, square on the defenses shoulders.
Stop all the mental "The wheels are falling off". It could be a lot worse. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
