I view being outbid as letting them walk. They didn't think those players were worth what we were offering.

I think we over-paid for what turned out to be merely average to below average LB's.

Above average pay, below average performance.

In Cleveland his 1st year they ranked 31st. In his 2nd season they ranked 22nd. That's a 9 game improvement

In Dallas they only dropped 5 spots in his 2nd season after being devastated by injuries to his key defensive personnel.

In Oakland they went from 30th to 27th in his 2nd season. And went to 3rd in his 3rd season

Not buying that theory at all.

Thank you, Danno. I was going to post that the OP's history was totally wrong.

Never draft a top quality LB when you can overpay for a good team's rejects.

We should have seen this coming. Rob Ryan's first year was a fluke and at best we'll have the 20th ranked defense. Right now I would be happy with anything better than 32nd...

Trying not to start the fire Rob Ryan train. I am just bringing up his history.

I hate to say I told you so. I said before training camp that it's foolish to think we would pick up where we left off last year. It takes time to build a top offense. U don't go from worst ever to top 5 in one year.

Look i am not a huge fan of Ryan as you all know but the sky is not falling. Just like with Spags you gotta let these guys play. This team was built on in your face football. that includes the secondary. this cushion style is not going to work! press coverage or bust.

now my biggest complaint is signing 3 safeties in 2013 right after a first rounder in 2012? That's 4 huge moves at the safety position in 2 years. To prove the point look what we have at safety on the practice squad. that one was free.

Now that the tape is out there on the defense you are running and we are no longer surprising any one. 5-0 right out of the gate and 6-5 the rest of the way in 2014 followed up with an 0-2 start? come on 6-7 in our last 13 regular season games. I think they know what we are running.

We have a glaring needs else where. Youth at ILB and CB. so what do we do we draft? two LB and make them play outside? then we draft 1 CB that is a multi year project? I am dumb founded.

My biggest issue with Rob. Adjustments in game and during the off season. As do many fans of teams he has coached for

I think the ship can be saved and top 16 defense can be had still if the light goes on in Robs head.

I have not given up hope yet :bng:
