Re: Coach Going Off
I don't get it. The D didn't play lights out -- but WTF -- what about the O-Line? Hello? Payton should STFU and RR should tell him so.

Re: Coach Going Off
What about the play calling? Defensively and offensively, yeah Ryan needs to fix some things but so does Payton. And Patrick Robinson needs to decorate the bench. That's all I have.

Re: Coach Going Off
Except we don't have anyone else to put out there. Greer appears to have been that important.

Or go ahead and try Dixon on the outside in press with a safety over the top with Corey White or Bush as the nickel back in the slot. Or switch to a single high safety look with Byrd and pull Vaccaro closer to the LOS. The basic problem I have with PRob is that consistently his game is to allow for the receiver to catch the ball or to generate a penalty. Both are drive sustaining and everyone we play will exploit it until it stops. I get annoyed when the defense gives up a ton of yards. I could live with it if they simply could get a stop on the money downs every once in a while. SFIAH |

Only Atlanta choked in an unchokable situation... Life is definitely good. |

Re: Coach Going Off
647 yards of passing, 235 yards rushing, and 63 points allowed in 2 games and your reference point is 'lights out defense'?

New Orleans Saints' defense lacks fundamentals, offense struggles early vs. Browns' pressure: Film Study | NOLA.com "Only five of Brees' throws have been for 20-plus yards. This is not by design. Against Cleveland, New Orleans had trouble getting the vertical routes to develop because of pressure. The Browns' game plan, just like the Falcons' a week before, was to eliminate the Saints' vertical passing game -- sometimes by even playing seven defensive backs. This is why the Saints ran a lot of "21" personnel (two backs, one tight end) using fullback Austin Johnson more for lead runs against the Browns' soft looks. Establishing the run is something Sean Payton wants to do, but preferably after gaining the lead through explosive vertical plays. Because the vertical element has been limited, the Saints have turned to their running attack more to set up the pass rather than the other way around. Going forward, the Saints need to get their protections settled to hold up better in Brees' five- and seven-step dropbacks and challenge their receivers to do a better job of working their way open. For most of the game, the Browns did an outstanding job with four-man pressure in front of tight, short coverage. They also did a nice job of contesting throws downfield and were well-positioned. The Browns deserve a lot of credit for their play and effort." |

Re: Coach Going Off
Some key mistakes were definitely made by the offense, but it's pretty clear that 90% of the reason we're 0-2 is because of a ridiculously porous defense.
