Greer is retired because of a career ending injury.

Greer had some bad games, especially when he allowed the pats TD at the end but he had significantly more good games than he did bad

He often closed out wins with key interceptions/ pass breakups

Falcons in 2012, intercepted 2 passes to end the game vs lions in 2011 playoffs as a couple examples

I can't even name one good game that Patrick Robinson has had.

Without any pressure from the front, doesn't matter who is back there.

He had 2 INTs against TB in 2012 as well. I am not by any means saying that I wouldn't rather him on the field than Robinson. What I am saying is that Greer is retired and being preferred over Robinson isn't saying a whole lot..

Greer was just too inconsistent for my taste. When you look at his performance grades it looks like an EKG. This is his 2012 grading.

I think Greer's peak was in 2009, he had a great season which helped us win the Superbowl
The only disappointing thing is he did not stay in his prime longer, in 2009 he was a real shutdown corner and after that he seemed a step slower

As you said he started being a little inconsistent, when he had a good game he really did have a good one though.

Hell. I'm ready to make Greg Williams an offer at this point.

"plenty" wanted him? He didn't even work out for anybody.
As for Champ, we kept 9 LB's and a hurt Ball instead of carrying him as a 6th CB, even though we were already on the hook for the 500,000 signing bonus
We took a gamble; we lost. Time to move on

Robinson got picked on every preseason game while champ played great in the 2 games we saw.

Every corner on the roster looked better than Robinson during the preseason. I know people are going to say he looked good in practice but no one actually knows coaches aren't going to say he looked bad. Robinson is the scapegoat right now and getting rid of him wont solve everything but it will make our defense better.

This is something I have stated numerous times. Champ didn't get beat out, he just wasn't healthy enough to show he could play a full 16 games.
