Interception: The Dirty "I" Word
Who will get the first one this year? Better yet, will we even get one this year? With Cassell this week, we'll be breaking the 1st seal on this rare and nearly extinct animal that our secondary has rarely seen in the regular season and playoffs. And they also seem to avoid these "I" words like poison.
So far in 2014, 85 pass attempts against us in our first 2 weeks with ZERO interceptions. 2013 Ryan's D in the regular season? 12 INT's against 507 pass attempts (tied for 24th in the league) and an INT Rate of 2.4 (tied for 20th with 2 other teams). NINE out of 12 INT's were in the Dome in 2013, which is understandable due to us awesome freakin' fans. 2013 Ryan's D in the playoffs? 51 pass attempts in the playoffs; we got ZERO interceptions And can you name the last player with a Pick 6? It was in 2012, I do know that much. Will we ever see this even rarer animal again during this season? And to conclude, is our secondary's hands really that terrible? My Pick of a Pick? PRob. That's right. It'll be a deflection at the line of scrimmage with Cassell hassling PRob's assigned receiver...that is if PRob ever figures out who his assigned receiver is, that is. |

Re: Interception: The Dirty "I" Word
I see Byrd or Vaccaro getting our first interception and I have a feeling it will be this week.
At least I hope so, being at home with the crowd and all... |

I agree that the Saints will get their 1st pick this week as well as Byrd or Vaccaro doing the honors.
But I wouldn't complain if it was PRob-lem that picked it off. |

Re: Interception: The Dirty "I" Word
I dont know what it is when a player puts on the Black and Gold jersey they seem almost incapable of creating turnovers. When was the last time a linebacker intercepted someone on this defense? WILL HERRING against Detroit in 2011. Then Malcom Jenkins and Roman Harper of all people who we all bashed for the last couple of years for not creating more turnovers, have one a piece, each more than our entire defense. I just don't get it.

Hard to get an interception when the DB's don't EVER turn there head and look for the ball. Just sayin.

Re: Interception: The Dirty "I" Word
I'm sure that fact alone plays a significant part of being in the lower half of the league in INTs in 2013 and having ZERO this year. You are spot-on, and it is just so frustrating to watch. Wonder if that is part of the technique being coached in the system? Don't ever turn your head and look for the ball...Ever. Cripes...
