Byrd injury sucks.

A lot of posters have mentioned Marcus Ball's name but my bigger question is if he's healthy? I don't think he has been active in any games thus far.

Ball has been practicing this week, so I guess he is

We've seen how great Vaccaro and Bush can play together, maybe we should give them a chance first?

Im still going to watch and yell for my team but this hurts. Regardless of how he has looked he still is one of the best safeties in the n.f.l. I just thought eventually we would get the D together. It could've just been a matter of chemistry and him getting use to the system.

Byrd hasn’t been in the lineup at all for the Bills this year because of his own foot problem and, unlike Holmes, Byrd won’t be taking a step on the field until he’s certain that he’s 100 percent.

Plantar Fasciitis.
Top Buffalo Bills safety Jairus Byrd battling plantar fasciitis - ESPN

Read the comments on the ESPN article from Bills fans:

John Zendano
"plantar fasciitis= Flat Feet ---- Did not know that Flat Feet would be such an issue. I thought that players learn how to play with pain? Well if I was guaranteed millions to wait for my flat feet to recover I would relax."

Cody White
"It seems odd that suddenly after he signs his franchise tender that he develops a foot issue. I really hope he's not trying to burn us here."....

Among other comments (I'm starting to feel nauseous) :bang2:

Not just flat feet

Quote:

Plantar fasciitis is a common painful disorder affecting the heel and underside of the foot. It is a disorder of the insertion site of ligament on the bone and is characterized by scarring, inflammation, or structural breakdown of the foot's plantar fascia. It is often caused by overuse injury of the plantar fascia, increases in exercise, weight or age. Though plantar fasciitis was originally thought to be an inflammatory process, newer studies have demonstrated structural changes more consistent with a degenerative process. As a result of this new observation, many in the academic community have stated the condition should be renamed plantar fasciosis.[1]

Plantar fasciitis is the most common injury of the plantar fascia[2] and is the most common cause of heel pain.[3][4] Approximately 10% of people have plantar fasciitis at some point during their lifetime.[5][6] It is commonly associated with long periods of standing and is much more prevalent in individuals with excessive inward rolling of the foot, which is seen with flat feet.

Yeah believe it or not, I think we might be better with him hurt. After all, he did not learn much with us due to back surgery. And he probably would have clicked later on in the season. Maybe now we get back to basics with our defense and tackle and force stops again.

Our offense though is under more pressure to not make mistakes now.

Byrd's replacement is no slouch.

Safety Rafael Bush will jump in the starting lineup to replace Byrd and is more than familiar with the Saints defense. Bush played a ton last season in the team's three-safety scheme and received about half the defensive snaps in three of the first four games this year.

The Saints played hardball with Atlanta to regain the services of Bush. New Orleans matched the Falcons' restricted free agent offer for Bush to maintain its ability to use three safeties in defensive coordinator Rob Ryan's defense. The Saints would be in a much bigger world of hurt if Bush left for Atlanta.

I'm not going to pretend I know anything about meniscus injuries but they referred to this one as a "bucket handle tear." I did a google search and I still don't know much more than before but I did learn that the bucket handle tear is bad for two reasons, one it's a very big tear on the meniscus and two, often times there's inadequate blood flow for the tendon to heal properly.

I've read rehab times vary from 6 weeks to 6 months depending on the person and the damage.

So, we have to pay Byrd even though he may never play another game for us? Wow! Then what insurance do teams have that players won't fake an injury? Apparently, some injuries are only diagnose-able by reporting of symptoms.

That's an age old problem. Teams have doctors to try to diagnose problems but you're right, some problems like lower back pain, whiplash and foot pain, many times, don't show signs of damage.

The Portland Trailblazers said privately for years that Bill Walton was faking his foot injuries.

Plantar fasciitis ain't no joke; it is hard to run and sometimes hard to walk. I got it in both feet and I ain't got flat feet. I just ran a whole bunch over 2 decades.

And we were getting ready to see what Sunseri could do. So here's your chance, kid.

Re: Jarius Byrd to IR

With Byrd going down who comes up on the 53 man roster?

Also, after some though, letting SJB take over at CB for White may not be a bad idea. White could slide in and play the nickle role and SJB would get his shot to prove it.

They have injury clauses in all contracts to protect teams from just that. He will still get paid something, but it won't be 54 mil.

Re: Jarius Byrd to IR

That might explain the bad angles, playing 25-35 yrds. off. Byrd is excellent when healthy. If Bush is going to start we still need a back-up and I hope it's Warren, he played great when he was on the field, now with that said the way KV has been lately I wouldn't mind Sunseri getting a shot at some of his reps. The reason I say this during pre-season those 2 played lights out and if they are the one's( no pun intended) to give us that missing spark I'm all for it. It's all about chemisty between players basically reading each others minds, those 2 have chemisty.

We have yet to play Green Bay, San Fran, Cincinnati, who will destroy our defense worse than Dallas did, and a Ravens team that is surging currently through the play of Steve Smith who has been a Saint killer for years and looks to not have lost anything. The Bears in Chicago in December is a very unlikely win as well. That's not counting the games in our division. I really don't see us winning any of these games the way our defense is playing. Our offense is not the same offense we have had in the past and won't be able to keep up with teams putting up double digit points on our defense.
We are screwed. Our record doesn't matter, we look like crap. Worse than crap, we are a staght up awful football team. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if we lose to Tampa this weekend.

He didn't just come here and all of a sudden start to suck. He is a 3 time pro bowler. He has had to make up for ****ty tackling by linebackers and an offensive line that can't pressure worth a crap. You could put the best safeties and corners in the league back there and they would all look like crap as long as we are losing up front. A good front line can make up for crappy DB play, not the other way around.
If we get better it won't be because we don't have him.

You should know by now that our opponent does not matter. We play ourselves every week. If we play Saints football we win 100% of the time.

Green Bay looks soft, if you are impressed with their win over the vikings in their house and when they had the third string QB in...

49ers look like **** this season on both sides of the ball.

Cinci looks good but we get them at home along with the 2 teams mentioned above.

Baltimore looks average at best and once again we get them at home.

My point is we could play the Hawks 16 games in a row and if we play Saints football we win 16 games. The only team that can beat the Saints are the Saints.

Jarius Byrd jump to the NFC South from the AFC East was a huge jump in WR and QB talent from anything he has faced before. He would never put up those numbers in almost any other division in football. for various reason too.

Still believe the early success of the multiple safeties system is what is killing us today. way to much effort and money has been spent in the past two years to upgrade the safety position that to be honest were ok but not that bad.

We need a corner to step up now or address that issue early in the off season next year. that is the only way i can see this system working out. 2 solid shut down type CB.

So the drop in CB quality on this saints team when he signed has hurt Byrds playing style just as much as quality of players he is facing every Sunday.

saints can in no way can match the quality of CB that Byrd has played with in Buffalo since entering the NFL. same could be said for the LBers to a point. Buffallo not having a defense has never really been their issue.

So you maybe right. the saints maybe better off but in no way do i put the blame on him. i rest the blame on the quality of DBs and LBs he has to adjust too. the quality of players he is facing. As well as this funky system Rob is trying to put in place here.

next years draft CBs and LBs early and often.

With that said I still like the move but that contract????
