Say what?

I was just commenting this morning that we've been quite fortunate with injuries.

This sucks.

Happened at practice yesterday. Maybe Payton shouldn't have made those changes.

I guess Pierre Warren will be back in our plans now?

Re: Jarius Byrd to IR

I hate to see a player injured, but as a team standpoint it might be a good thing...

Byrd wasn't having the best performances, let's see who steps up in his absence... Bush has played well and now gets his chance to start

SOB.....well Warren or Ball?

Re: Jarius Byrd to IR

Ball or Sunseri...

Byrd looks like a poor investment so far. What a cluster ****.

Can we get our 56 million back please?

Re: Jarius Byrd to IR

This is terrible news but we have good safeties. Bush will step up. If they are smart enough Warren will see playing time. He may be pleasant surprise this season.

Ball just started practicing again recently. I would think him over Warren. Maybe Warren back to the PS. Dialing ##########

Re: Jarius Byrd to IR

Unfortunate for him and us.
But I guess this should diminish the negative Byrd threads to some extent. Like we said before though, does this really affect what the defense has been doing anyway.

Ball is a pure SS if I remember correctly.

Bush and Sunseri are more of a natural fit at FS

Contract stipulates; No Refunds Allowed. You break it...you bought it.

SHOCKED!!!
I thought our whole D was already on IR.

They said in another article Bush is the next man up. Personally I want to see Sunseri.

I'm sure we'll get an opportunity to see them all get some playing time

Re: Jarius Byrd to IR

maybe just don't replace him. he took some bad angles on Demarco Murray and got burnt twice, once for a td. seemed like either no one was over there or byrd was 35 yards down the field against Dallas.

Re: Jarius Byrd to IR

Bush, Vaccaro, Lewis and White. That was our starting backfield for a large part of of the season last year and they played above every bodies expectations. It's up to Rob Ryan to orchestrate a defense that plays to their talents and hides their deficiencies exactly like last year.

Re: Jarius Byrd to IR

I refuse to lose the faith. Next man up. They could put ME back there and we could hardly do much worse (no offense to byrd meant).

Stick them back there, mixing in Sunseri when needed and play the same exact scheme as last year... Jordan, Galette have to get their head out of their ass and get a pass rush at some point... :bng:

Ball is a strong safety, Warren is a free safety. We have three strong safeties and now one free safety, Bush, and he is a hybrid. We need Warren.

Are you crazy?! We're 1-3 with the Bucs coming to town before a bye. Get real. We still have a shot to turn it around.

Stop being hopeless. Its much more exciting to be hopeful and optimistic.

How so? From what I've seen Byrd wasn't exactly having an all-pro year so far, in fact he's been pretty non-existent.

We've seen how great Vaccaro and Bush can play together, maybe we should give them a chance first?

Re: Jarius Byrd to IR

Ball is a SS because of the build but he was a ball hawk in the CFL. He may end up surprising us, he reminds me of a young, larger version of Troy Palumalu (spelled wrong, but I don't care).

I can see Ball as the nickel corner, the same role Vaccaro played some last year

He might end up being a more athletic Roman Harper... I think i just threw-up a little... lol

But seriously this isn't the end of the world, Byrd really wasn't doing much. This isn't like losing Sharper during the 2009 season when he was a pick machine.

We'll surely miss his 1 forced fumble and 10+ miss tackles?! (not sure the exact number) /sarcasm

Never been a fan of Ra. Bush. But, Sunseri will see the field in situations atleast. Sorry for Byrd. Hope he fully recovers. Didn't see anything remotely special about him in the first 4 games.

Re: Jarius Byrd to IR

Looks like signing Bush was a good move. That bring said, time to bring Pierre back.

dizzle88 10-03-2014 02:54 PM

Re: Jarius Byrd to IR

This might force RR to play 2 safeties closer to the line as we no longer have Byrd back there being the roaming type safety

Which in my eyes is a plus.

Re: Jarius Byrd to IR

Would meniscus surgery be an IR event under normal circumstances? I had surgery on my meniscus for a tear after my original knee surgery didn't heal properly(long story), but after about a month I was back to 100% normal...

Could it be Byrd's lack of production influenced Payton?
