Re: Tough Times Reveal Character of 'fans'
To the original poster: If you think people are getting fat on their couches because they have an opinion on the team, then you are a hypocrite. You just gave us your opinion. I can't even say I respectfully disagree with you. I can't respect you at all. Anybody here jumping off the wagon? Do you see any "let's go falcons" threads? No, you don't.
If you want people to blow sunshine up your butt all day long, go find some hippies. Between myself, and the many Saints fans I associate with on a daily basis, we sure aren't spending our days on the couch. We work all week, many of us (myself included) are parents, and we have just one day (two if you follow college football) a week that we look forward to something to take our minds off of everything else. That makes it very disappointing when the team loses. And we have the right to voice our displeasure, so long as we're not losing our minds over it and just quitting. If fans don't show up, you hear players and coaches all the time calling them out. That's right, they call out the people that supply the billions of dollars owners rake in to pay these huge contracts to people who don't work any harder than the rest of us. They just happen to do something that is popular. That's the difference between them and us. Yet they can complain, but we can't? I don't think so, pal. |
If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.

Re: Tough Times Reveal Character of 'fans'
Good response burningmetal, when it's all said and done like all Professional Sports it's all about the money. Each franchise is a business
making lot's of dollars as the end result. I'm sure Drew Brees loves New Orleans but he is getting paid top dollar to be here. I do beleive the intention's of this forum is to let the Fans voice their opinions good and bad. Not living in New Orleans the forum has been a great provider of information about the Saints that I would never see. And despite the occasional Troll pretty much everyone here is a dyed in the wool Who Dat. The original poster did get a few folks here fired up though which may have been intentional. |

Re: Tough Times Reveal Character of 'fans'
First of all I understand people being disappointed right now. Who isn't? I sure as hell am. I also understand some getting upset about people getting upset. Its a turbulent time right now. Its not like 2012 when we could blame it on the coach being gone. Or the 70's, 80's or 90's when we didn't expect anything really great (aside from a few seasons).
Fans are used to winning and want to see a better product from the team. Others are getting mad because of the opinions voiced here and are defending the team in the name of honorable fandom. I can say this: the only thing that makes a Failcon fan is complete blasphemy and fairweather fandom. I don't think anyone here falls into that category. If you're unsure about what you post, then think what the Failcon fans are saying about us after its posted. No need to give them ammunition. We certainly don't want it to appear that there's some kind of coup. |

Re: Tough Times Reveal Character of 'fans'
What a load of junk.
Some people let off steam and whinge, just like you are. It is human. Some people insist, 'everything is ok!' , while others get anxious, sound off and yell out 'screw this crap!' A lot of it is talk, like guys sounding of in a bar, full of sound and fury, signifying NOTHING. If they yell that out for 10 years, so what? They are still there, hanging in. If they jump ship, sure they are fair weather fans, but there is nothing wrong with a cry of pain, or a moan of disappointment and anxiety, however confronting and painful you may find it. Tbh, much fan infighting seems poorly akin to accusing someone of not being a patriot because they question their government - and that is a load of crap. |
