I opened this expecting you to fuss about the way the Saints played. I had names to call you ready and everything! But after reading your post I agree. It is no longer the football we all remember. That's one of the reasons I no longer watch like I use too. I got off work today at 12:30 and instead of watching the game I went and took a nap. Gone are the days where you could tackle with force. Here are the days of pushing a player to the ground. The NFL is on the way out for sure. Either someone takes over and fixes this or they need to bring back the USFL.

I am a lifelong football fan since I was in diapers and actually was at Tulane stadium. We went to Tulane stadium not only to watch the Saints, but to go see Tulane and high school football games. By the time I was 8 we started going to Baton Rouge to watch LSU football games.

My dad was/is a charter season ticket holder for the Saints and his seats were merged with my brother in law's family.

My brothers and I have always watched MLB in the off-season. This year we started road tripping to watch the Astros and Rangers play. We're not definitive fans of either team, but we're fans of the MLB.

Baseball is a much purer game where balls are either in or out, and umpires tend to call professional games. The level of subjectivity in officiating is not even 1/2 of what the NFL has become.

Everyone is right here when they say the game has become very subjective and oddly enough, I too find myself not enjoying it. NFL refs have become an avenue for Roger Goodell and the NFL's "agenda" with hits to the head and concussions - a problem caused by the NFL. The off-field drama of players and now politics that have made it to the game have done nothing by repulse me.

I feel the NFL, and football in general, may slip away within our lifetime. I appreciate the discussion in this thread.

If you think we got the humpin today, anyone see the Seachicken, non-fumble call at the end of their game? Holy crap, don't get me wrong anytime I can see the the chickens lose, I'm a happy boy, but wow, they got hosed. The officiating is sketchy at best. I believe thats why every network has an old crusty retired official on the phone, just so they justify/rationale the putrid calls on the field.

It is what it is, it's still the greatest game on the planet. I will never turn in my NFL card.

Good points. The MLB has been gaining ground. They opened up the strike zone and allowed the game to actually be fair again. The NFL could take a few lessons from the MLB and learn that not everything has to be offense offense offense.

Tennis is the sport I take solace in when NFL has too much drama and BS. Or I'll fire up Madden which has its own BS but at least the game isn't about the refs and game stoppages.
