Re: Sean Payton: Drew Brees is least of 2-4 Saints' worries
His arm is not going to come back to what it was because of age and his past injury...
It was a testament to Brees' commitment to his game and modern medical technology that Dr. James Andrews' staff were able to build a new rotator cuff for him to continue his career... The Saints took a major gamble then to sign and commit to him as the starting quarterback (Seem to remember Payton wanted to bring Romo here)... I doubt seriously he trains at the level his rehab sx took him; in addition, having all that new found wealth of a growing family and his financial boom, he has a lot to lose personally... And that's where I believe the real rub is; I've posted comparisons to illustrated, with some humor, to Stallone's Rocky III characater and in watching his expressions on the field, he looks like he's playing scared and not that fearless, killer-instinct quarterback we saw in the 2009 run... Look, he's a saavy and smart quarterback and that's why he's played as well as he has; and he's been spot on in his politics in his franchise investments in the city and moving his family here during the season... But the decline in his long-ball game, despite having one of his better deep connections to Stills than he's had in a while, plus his salary cap gobbling contract and the misdirected overpay along the offensive line to protect him is a big part why we don't smash and put teams away... Thus exposing a neglected personnel situation on defense that is unable to protect seemingly solid leads late in games... I would be very disappointed if he's extended beyond this current contract and we should have been developing a quarterback since he was signed to this current deal... |
It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

When you throw it 50 times a week, and the defense knows you're going to throw it 50 times a week, chances are a couple aren't going to be perfect, and most likely a defender will find his way in front of a couple. More runs. Less predictable passes. Success.

Re: Sean Payton: Drew Brees is least of 2-4 Saints' worries
This is what I have been saying all year. Damn -- finally some numbers.
I am sick to death of the b*tching about Drew. Guess what: 1. After this past Sunday, Drew was ranked as the #2 QB behind only Andrew Luck. 2. Our passing game is ranked #2 in the league. 3. In Fantasy Football, this week Drew Brees is the ranked as the #5 QB. And, the only reason he wasn't #4 was because R. Wilson played CAR. All this, behind a sh*tty O-Line that allows pressure 30% of the time. Seriously? Child, please. |

One thing is we are passing the ball 20% more than Peyton which is alot and slighty more than Brady. Asking our OL to dance all game long isn't easy. But your point is taken. I don't put much stake in #2 and #3.

The inability to protect Brees and move the ball in the last two possessions is a big reason for the loss. The INT was a good play by the safety, hands down. But they were getting pressure with their front and dropping everyone else back, hard to do anything in that scenario.

Sometimes I start second guess if some of you actually WATCH the games that are played by the saints smbeard Drew Brees this Drew Brees that we need to start looking for a new QB his arm is in decline he's always forcing something he's in accurate blah blah blah, NO elite recievers on our team our 1 elite player was used as a decoy when he was in & our shotty o-line and Drew's the scape goat Lls on to Greenbay please

He is right for the most part and would say that about any player or any coach. Payton will never call out a player or coach to the media nor should he. However, he didn't meet Drew at the numbers and wear his ear hole out a few games back because he liked the pick6. Btw....was that ever discussed by anyone? I never saw it mentioned or any video of it. The fact is very clear that Drew's turnovers have hurt us very badly this year. It is undeniable.

This is an accurate statement. As angry as I am about Drew's INT's I would not want to give him up unless it was for Aaron Rodgers. Since that ain't gonna happen SP needs to stop being in denial about not winning on the road and make some adjustments for Drew & the offense. This team is failing us and SP is failing the team. By the way I wouldn't give up SP either. |
