Yesterday wasn't a man scheme. It was a 2-deep zone shell with man underneath. Definitely a bend, don't break defense designed to keep the ball in front of the defenders.

As for the rush, it was a "mush rush" designed to keep Rogers contained in the pocket so as to limit the scramble drill.

For the most part it worked.

Exactly the same should be used for Newton. He's dangerous when he's out of the pocket. Keep him in the pocket and make him throw the ball.

Rush him and he escapes is bad news. Pressure should be in the pocket.

Super Bowl Championships: New Orleans Saints:1, Carolina:0, Atlanta Chokers: STILL ZERO

Only Atlanta choked in an unchokable situation... Life is definitely good.

I read where Ryan was subbing a lot on their side of the 50, but when the Packers crossed the 50 he stayed with the primary starters for max effect.

If true, I kinda like that philosophy.

I hope you guys are right all I'm saying is this only 4 guys to beat while everyone is out manning up on receivers an safety's in deep zones. Odds are cams gonna take off not sit and wait untill someone's open and give time for pressure to get to him in pocket. Works with Rogers because he's not a runner but cam can outrun 4 fat guys.

But Cam can't throw like Rodgers either... We'll be able to play our safeties closer to the line

good in theory, but we don't have anyone remotely quick enough to shadow him, and I really wouldn't trust KV in that role

I actually liked our defense in the second half. 2 deep safety with the corners playing man to man inside. It was great. Aaron Rodgers got smoked in the second half. Problem was he threw for almost 300 in the first half. Lol. Wowza.

Maybe we went vanilla last night because we plan on showing a lot of different looks on Thursday. Hopefully we at least have guys at the line pretending to blitz.
Cam isn't great at reading and reacting, but it can be a positive for him bc a lot of time he makes one read and the just takes off

You're right. But halftime adjustments made the difference. You get the feeling Rob Ryan is workin' it!!

Still got a ways to go, but it sure looked a little like last years Defense didn't it?

I mean, a great improvement. No more wondering safety 40 yards off line of scrimmage. Compared to the Cowboys game, last night was night and day. But the turnovers made it feel like it was last years defense.
