Defense

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I realize Carolina doesn't have a lot of offensive firepower, but our D was nearly dominant in this game. They played really well against GB too IMO. Is our D finally turning the corner and getting back to last year's ...

Is our D finally turning the corner and getting back to last year's form?

Re: Defense

We are certainly making the most of the opportunities for turnovers

On Corey whites pick, he lost his man in coverage and the receiver batted it straight up into the air for him, still I'll take a lucky pick any day

P-rob has been playing so much better in nickel situations, he made several very good plays on the ball tonight

Our D line is playing better but I still need to see more push up the middle, Akiem Hicks has been underwhelming most of the year

Hats off to the D today though, they were lights out
Especially Keenan lewis.

Re: Defense

Defensive line is getting pressure. Secondary seems a lot more comfortable in the scheme. Lofton tackles anything that moves. I like what I see.

Statistically, this game should put us somewhere in the middle of the pack. To be ranked 17th or 18th in the league in defense is amazing considering how bad everything started off.

I've asked for consistency and they are one game away from making me believe it's working

Re: Defense

They played much better. Let us not forget that Scam Newton was off and had several opportunities that with better throws would have made this game a much harder win.

Yep ... Cam has zero touch on his throws. Sure he can throw darts but reminds me of Byron Leftwich. Way too much mustard on the ball.

Oh well, that's their problem. Up next... San Fran in the dome

Let's also not forget that two turnovers from the Saints offense were lucky. The pic bounced off Stills' shoulder pad in the red zone and Lorig knocked the ball out of Drew's hand for the fumble while we were driving.

Speaking of Stills...that dude had some probs catching passes early in the game. Dayum!

Re: Defense

The D looked great, and really kept us in the game. Remember that it was zero-zero for 28 minutes.

Yes the D played well, but the truth is Carolina O is god-awful. Dropped passes, constant overthrows and bad reads by Newton, and that makeshift line could make anyone look good. Their receivers are terrible- Benjamin targeted 10 times and 2 receptions.

Hopefully we carry confidence and momentum thru the end of the year
