Yes the D played well, but the truth is Carolina O is god-awful. Dropped passes, constant overthrows and bad reads by Newton, and that makeshift line could make anyone look good. Their receivers are terrible- Benjamin targeted 10 times and 2 receptions.

Hopefully we carry confidence and momentum thru the end of the year
Yep, we merely did what we were supposed to do.

They were under-manned, but we were coming off of an emotional Sunday Night game and playing on the road Thursday night against a heated rival.

I don't think the players are reading too much into this victory. They know the circumstances both good and bad.

Re: Defense

Its a lot better than playing down to your competition. Thats what they did the first 5 or so games. The bye week did them well. Whatever they're doing differently, its working. If they can win out on this home game streak then we know they're for real. Then do it again in Pittsburgh. If so, playoffs will be fun to watch.

Re: Defense

Honestly, it doesn't matter how under manned the offense of the Panthers was. The Saints are know to be ****ty on the road whether the other team is fully manned or not. They usually find a way to give it away. I'm extremely optimistic all of a sudden.

And question, is Byrd brought back next year?

Yes; His contract requires it... Way too much guaranteed money left

Re: Defense

Still see Jr crashing in too much giving up outside runs. Both of Cam's big 3rd down conversions including the TD was because Jr crashed inside and left the outside run open.

But he received the game ball and made arguably the best play of the game with the sack + strip at the 4 yard line, no one plays perfect

Yes but if he stayed disciplined on 2 3rd and longs the kitty cats wouldn't have converted and Cam wouldn't have scored a TD.

Re: Defense

Two stats that say a whole lot about last night.

Our offense played 76 snaps and were on the field for 35.18 minutes.
Our defense played 57 snaps and were on the field for only 24.42 minutes.

That looks like serious ball control to me...

Re: Defense

Green Bay was a very good test for our defense at home... Aaron Rodgers is a fairly decent QB last I checked.
Carolina on the road.. I think again it was a good test. Defense really came through for us having 2 TO's early.
I'm satisfied atm

Not to mention we had literally 3 days to rest and prepare after the Sunday night game.
