Re: It's mental
I don't know what it is about this team, but every time we play them,we get turnover happy. It seems like ever since that playoff loss at Candlestick, they are completely in the Saints heads. I swear, I don't think there's any other team out there that makes this team look soft and pu$$ified like the 49ers. They manhandle us on both sides of the ball, especially our defense. Gore bowled over our guys like they were bowling pins. They have to be the best tackling machines in this league. What the f**k does it take to build a defense like that. Is it our coaches or our players. I'd hate to believe we have the worse luck when it comes to drafting and acquiring tough, aggressive, hard hitting, solid tackling defensive players. I sure hope I'm not the only one that sees things this way....if I am, just ignore my frustrated ranting.

Re: It's mental
This maybe one of the most relevant posts ever posted on this thread. No other team besides Seattle does this type of damage to us every time we play them. Drew plays somewhat well, but always manages to turn it over not once, but multiple times when we play them.

49ers Defensive Coach Vic Fangio "Has Our Number"
Fangio spent nine seasons as the linebackers coach of the New Orleans Saints, starting in 1986. In his second year, the Saints advanced to the playoffs for the first time in franchise history and came back the following year to finish with a 10-6 record. Fangio coached the vaunted “Dome Patrol,” which included All-Pro linebackers Rickey Jackson, Pat Swilling, Sam Mills and Vaughan Johnson. The group was the only linebacking unit from one team voted to the Pro Bowl on the first ballot. That group was later voted the best linebacking unit in NFL history by NFL Network |

Re: It's mental
Well, we are getting more consistent -- we are losing on the road and at home, generally in OT, by 4 points or less. And, Drew Brees continues to turn the ball over. And, our receivers continue to have marshmallow hands.
And, this continues to be one weird NFL season. Is Mercury in retro-grade all fall and winter? Now, Carson Palmer is out for the season and the best team in the league is looking for a QB. I seriously think anything could happen. And, I mean anything. |

Re: It's mental
gotta be running out of toes to shoot off. talent is there but the head is not i have to agree, but the niners did all they could to give us this game also.
how does a player get 15 yards wide open behind a cloud defense? 3 or 2 what ever the cloud that was had to be one of the worse prevent defense performances i have seen in my many years of watching the saints. the secondary is this weeks NFL luaghing stock yet once again. These are the type of melt downs i was use to seeing Dallas do. Closing out a game was never their strong suit. Nice guy or not Rob can not shake this monkey off his back in key games. these are his guys so blaming them for mental mistakes is foolish. you picked the brains and talent to work with in the first place. |

Re: It's mental
Critical errors this game. Like this one; a punt that could have been easily downed inside the 5. Nope. We grab it and slide 4 yards for a touchback.
Or this one; an unnecessary push off when all eyes are on you FTW. He could have clearly caught it without it. Senseless. The only saving grace is that our entire Division is one big critical error this season. We could seriously sneak into the playoffs with !@#$ eating grins on our faces |
