i agree, with the exception of this. in regards to you saying all teams get figured out and you mention the rams, they won what, two superbowls before getting figured out? idk anything about san diego. also you have to remember during those days where the steel curtain, tampa, and dallas defenses were good/great they were able to play DEFENSE. meaning that we didnt have these chippy calls we see today. receivers actually had to fight for catches, unlike today the defenders basically has to run down field with a reciever and hopes to make a play and oh by the way the receiver gets away with a push here and there to get separation (with the exception of the hail mary jg got). you actually could put a hit on the qb without seeing a flag coming out saying you're roughing the passer. also offenses ran the ball more than they do today. i mean i can go on and on but today's defense is no where near yester-year's defenses were because the rules have changed. the nfl has geared more towards making this about the offense and not the defense. when i grew up you always had defensive guys getting mvp's and honors. who are those guys today? the only position we love giving those honors too is the qb, then the wr, and if your rb isnt approaching breaking eric dickerson record the rb isnt respected. so i do agree defense win games but under today's rules you have to win on offense. too many times i see defenses lose the game. the only time i see anything differently is when you have a bone headed play by the qb trying to squeeze a pass between tripple coverage. other than that we're unfortunately in this "win on offense era".

Offense needs to score points, I agree but without a D, and I mean a good D whats to stop another team from putting a 40 burger on us. The teams like Tampa and the rest of those other teams played as a plug in unit, ours can't, thats how thet won.If our D was even close to thers we would be 8-1 not 4-5. Our O scores enough each game to make that 8-1 happen. Dallas and only Dallas this season might have won. 9-0?
