Re: 2015 draft??
Yeah I don't get the Shane Ray love myself. But in all honesty I don't like any of the options there for us. I'm starting to really get on board with trading up.

Re: 2015 draft??
That's the hard part. I think we can trade up to #7 by only giving up our 2nd round pick. If Chicago's on the clock and Beasley's still available then you bet I'd give Ryan Pace a call. Chicago's rebuilding their defense as well and I'm sure they wouldn't mind the extra 2nd round pick. Jump in front of the Failclowns and steal their guy!
Danny Shelton would be a good pick too and Cleveland at 12 is a threat to take him. We wouldn't need to climb as far for him. Is there anyone you would be willing to trade up for? |

Pick No. 078 (R3, 14) CB Eric Rowe, Utah, 6' 0¾", 205 lbs. (Via Miami) *3 Pick No. 102 (R4, 03) OT Donovan Smith, Penn State, 6' 5⅝", 338 lbs. (Via Oakland) *1 Pick No. 112 (R4, 13) (Traded to Seattle) *2 Pick No. 148 (R5, 12) TE Blake Bell, Oklahoma, 6' 6¼", 252 lbs. Pick No. 154 (R5, 18) (Via Kansas City, Traded to Oakland) *4, *1 Pick No. 187 (R6, 11) NT Deon Simon, Northwestern St (LA); 6’ 4⅜”, 321 lbs Pick No. 230 (R7, 13) Jake Kumerow, Wisconsin-Whitewater; 6' 4½", 208 lbs *1 Mock Trade - NO sends Picks 013 (R1, 13), 154 (R5, 18), & Future 1st round pick to OAK for Pick 004 (R1, 04), 102 (R4, 03). *2 Graham Trade - NO sends All-Pro TE Jimmy Graham and Pick 112 (R4, 13) to SEA for All-Pro C Max Unger and Pick 031 (R1, 31) *3 Stills Trade - NO sends WR Kenny Stills to MIA for LB Dannell Ellerbe and Pick 078 (R3, 14) *4 Grubbs Trade - NO sends LG Ben Grubbs to KC for Pick 154 (R5, 18). Notes: Been reluctant to post this mock at the risk of Hagan, Sarik or 76 requesting a psych consult or Tom Benson ed. straight jacket for that matter, so fine, I'll bust right through denial and state my mancrush/fear with Beasley is surging... Beasley is gonna be a game changer with a rarer skill set for his position... Liken making a bold move like this to the four point swing play in basketball; and I'd rather have him with us twice a year against ATL than against us twice a year... To maximize his set and to address shallow depth at DE, with pick 31 I took Carl Davis out of Iowa who can play multiple positions along the defensive line; when adjectives like 'immovable' are used in his scouting reports, that's the guy I want setting the edge allowing Vic to do his thing... In the second round went back to Clemson and got Stephone Anthony who's just now starting to show the higher ceiling than what many thought after his Senior Bowl and Combine performances; this is not only upgrade at the neglected MLB position, this is establishing elite talent at yet another position... Payton stated he wanted highly motivated players and who best exemplifies that than OL Ali Marpet out of little-known Hobart College; another guy who did what was asked of him at the Senior Bowl and just killed the Combine... While we now have a pair of respectable cornerbacks (best in the league according to NFLN talking @$$hat Deion Sanders), but I want to start developing size and youth there and Eric Rowe is sitting there in the third; and as he ages and slows, he can also move to safety - gotta love those flexible position guys... Now I didn't just totally lose my mind to get Beasley, I turned my Ben Grubbs fifth round pick into a early fourth round pick and got a guy who should be ready to step in as an OT for the Saints as early as late this season or next... In the fifth, I got some of that ability Graham offered in the red zone and got a former QB turned TE in Bell outta of OU; he's still learning the position so that ceiling there is encouraging... I was as surprised as anybody that the strongest DL/NT at the combine came from my own state N'Western St LA; then I heard Belichick took an interview with him; then the NFLN did some columns and posted links to his film; this guy would be perfect behind Bunkley, Jenkins tutuoring and learning because this guy's a beast... Last upon reading an article regarding NFL bloodlines and sons of NFL alum chasing the dream, I learned about Jake Kumerow; saw some of his film and workout and thought, could a lightning strike twice for us in the seventh with a big, tall overlooked WR?!? Re: 2015 draft??
My All-In Mock Draft (Updated)
Staying with my plan to move up in the top ten (10) with the best, most viable trade partner, Oakland; at they're only twelve (12) true first rounders... Pick Pos Name, Alma Mater, Height, Weight Pick No. 004 (R1, 04) LB Vic Beasley, Clemson, 6' 3", 246 lbs. (Via Oakland) *1 Other than Scherff, this is the only player in the top 5-10 to truly have the biggest impact on our team; he's gets the edge over Scherff as there is only one question mark on the offensive line, Lelito, at this point and the defense performance demands this pick... Pick No. 013 (R1, 13) (Traded Oakland) *1 Pick No. 031 (R1, 31) LB Stephone Anthony, Clemson, 6' 2⅜", 243 lbs. (Via Seattle) *2 Move Anthony up to this pick as I don't think he goes through the gambit of another round of JAX, CHI, ATL, CLE without getting selected; this defense is in more dire need of an ILB as much as an OLB and Hawthorne has shown he's not the answer regardless of whether Ellerbe can have an impact... Pick No. 044 (R2, 12) LB P.J. Williams, Florida St, 6' 0", 195 lbs. Not sure this opportunity will present itself in light of his recent mistake, but if he's there, got to jump on this as we've got to get CB fixed on this team... Pick No. 075 (R3, 11) WR Chris Conley, Georgia, 6' 2", 213 lbs. Leading receiver in UGA offense that featured RB Gurley, he can flat out fly and provide that outside speed threat at the "Y" position in Saints 3 wide-out sets, really opening things up for Colston, Cooks et al to put the scare back into defenses... Pick No. 078 (R3, 14) OT Rob Havenstein, Wisconsin, 6' 7", 321 lbs. (Via Miami) *3 Very much in the mould of Zach Strief; though he had poor measurables, they showed significant improvement between combine and pro-day; excellent candidate to tutelage behind Strief and could be ready by year three when Strief's contract expires; excellent depth regardless... Pick No. 102 (R4, 03) OG Mark Glowinski, Georgia, 6' 4", 307 lbs. (Via Oakland) *1 West Virginia OL has gone under the radar with teammate WR getting all the attention, but has show impressive measurables, intelligence, and athleticism to move up and warrant this selection... Pick No. 112 (R4, 13) (Traded to Seattle) *2 Pick No. 148 (R5, 12) TE Blake Bell, Oklahoma, 6' 6", 252 lbs. Like another kid that once played TE for the Saints, he's a big body with a small sample size, but it's impressive; former QB developing quickly into a red zone threat who could more than offer a rather large bucket to throw for our QB to score in the end zone... Pick No. 154 (R5, 18) (Via Kansas City, Traded to Oakland) *4, *1 Pick No. 187 (R6, 11) NT Deon Simon, Northwestern St (LA); 6’ 4⅜”, 321 lbs Great big, raw body that with the right coaching would be the steal of the draft; Bill Belichick, who knows a thing or two about defensive linemen, even sat in and participated in his combine interview. Bunkley's last season and to jumpstart another candidate for the NT rotation with Jenkins, we don't have to go far for this in-state product... Pick No. 230 (R7, 13) DE Brian Mihalik, Boston College; 6' 9", 309 lbs. Definitely a development project that will require at least a year in NFL conditioning program, weight room and position coaching, has demonstrated physical length at times to be an imposing player and would do great to learn behind our 3-4 Defensive Ends, his projected position. *1 Mock Trade - NO sends Picks 013 (R1, 13), 154 (R5, 18), & Future 1st round pick (or Gallette or Vaccaro or Jordan) to OAK for Pick 004 (R1, 04), 102 (R4, 03). Alternate Selections/Priority Free Agents: TE Brian Parker, Albany, 6' 4", 260 lbs. WR Jake Kumerow, Wisconsin-Whitewater; 6' 4½", 208 lbs. LB Tony Washington, Oregon, 6' 4", 245 lbs. OL Tyler Moore, Florida, 6' 4", 325 lbs. DL Olsen Pierre, Miami (FL), 6' 4", 300 lbs. |
