New Orleans Saints pass-rusher Junior Galette wouldn’t say he faced a “backlash” from inside his own locker room after he made comments last week that he would take his teammates now over the players who helped New Orleans win a Super Bowl in February 2010.
He did, however, receive “feedback.” And while Galette didn’t delve into details of that feedback, the most important thing he drew out of it was that “my teammates will always have my back,” he said Friday. “That’s about it,” said Galette, who hadn’t spoken to reporters since his remarks provoked a strong reaction in news reports and social media. “They always have my back, regardless of what’s going on outside the (Saints’) world. The locker room’s always going to have my back; we’re going to have each other’s back.” Galette insisted he had moved past the controversy and was squarely focused on the Chicago Bears (5-8), who host the Saints (5-8) on Monday night. Alluding to the fact the Saints had been defeated in four of their previous six outings, he said, “We haven’t lost this many games I feel like since I’ve been here. ... It’s a business of winning — it’s a fun game, but it’s a serious business, so we have to win games.” When Galette met with reporters Friday, it had been eight days since he expressed his belief that Saints defenders these days were better than the ones who preceded them. In the process, he singled out pass-rusher Will Smith and linebacker Jonathan Vilma, who won championship rings with the Saints less than five seasons ago. A multitude of Saints fans grew upset with Galette, who arrived in New Orleans as an undrafted rookie the season after the team won the Super Bowl. Vilma and Smith both fired back on Twitter. And Saints coach Sean Payton said Galette’s interview went “five minutes too long.” The coach of the Super Bowl team, Payton said such debates should be reserved when everyone affiliated with the Saints during this era is 70 or 75 years old and sitting around a fire. "The locker room’s always going to have my back," said Junior. However...
It's gonna be a looooong time, Junior, before you restore your credibility with me. Here's a start: 1) Prove you can go a few seasons without trashing us fans in an interview or on social media (i.e. develop maturity) 2) Prove you can go a few seasons without trashing former teammates in an interview or on social media (i.e. develop maturity) 3) Prove you can also be an effective run defense specialist and play part of a team defense on 1st & 2nd down instead of playing for your "sack bonus contract incentive" on every down which hurts your team (i.e. develop into a complete football player & quit being a selfish douche bag on the field) So, to wrap it up...quit being stupid & selfish & immature. |

He's not the 1st player to put his foot in his mouth. He'll have my full support on Gameday. He's still young and hopefully he's grown a bit from this.
I hope he plays like a possessed madman this week (but please keep containment Junior) |

Just think he needs to show more discipline on-and-off the field (with his mouth, that is) to get this defense right at the player-level. A Bottom 5 Defense like this one needs players with his charisma, his talent, and his background to rally around in the coming days/weeks/years and make this defense into something special. Lots of young'uns on the D-side. |

“my teammates will always have my back,”
funny thing is he does not see the irony in his own statement. I for one wonder if he gets what it is to be a saint in the fans eye, right now he has lost a lot of his appeal to fan base i am sure. we are not short sighted and so narrow minded as to think once they leave we forget all they contributed. tell ya what trade package on draft day involving Jr would not get me all that upset now. |

After all I've been a fan for 50 years, never played the game. I think I know a little more about their job than they do!!! I always wait till the day after the game to let them know all the things they did wrong!

I'm rooting for the kid. It's just like watching one of my own taterheads ----'ing stuff up on a daily basis...it's just tough love from me regarding Junior this year. |
