During Sean Payton‘s press conference Thursday afternoon, the New Orleans Saints‘ head coach confirmed that the team has signed two new members to the practice squad. WR Willie Snead IV and fullback Toben Opurum are the latest additions to the organization.

Snead, a 2014 undrafted rookie out of Ball State, spent time with the Cleveland Browns‘ practice squad this year followed by a short stint with the Carolina Panthers reserve crew. He is the second player in school history to record two 1,000-yard receiving seasons (2012-2013).

He holds the school record for most 100-yard games with 12, along with the single-season record with 1,516 yards. Snead’s 26 career touchdowns rank third all-time at Ball State.

Opurum, a Kansas product, was undrafted in 2013 and spent time with Kansas City Chiefs‘ and Houston Texans‘ practice squads last year. The Saints are the first organization he has been with this season.

Snead and Opurum likely won’t see time on the 53-man roster. Moves had to be made since two spots opened up on the 10-man practice squad after several transactions this week, including the release of WR Joe Morgan and call-up of WR Seantavius Jones.

A WR I understand.........but a FB? Lorig has been rounding into shape and form nicely since he came back from his injury I thought.

We've only got 1 FB on the roster. Lorig can't take all the snaps at practice, and we may need to practice tackling in the run game.
