Now that the season is over who do you NOT want back?

I am not sure how to look up how a contract would effect moving a player so I will only go with emotional votes for now.

DEFENSE:

Jordan tops my list
Gallete is next
All of our LB's
White
Robinson

OFFENSE:
Cadet
Colston
Graham
OL across the board perhaps a healthy Strief and Armstead stay

COACHES:
Vitt
ST's coach

What do you guys think?

Anyone not holding up to the standard this team worked hard to establish I simply don't want them back.

I would like to see every coach except Ryan on defense go. I don't want Jordan back mainly so we can use the cap space for FA.On offense, whatever or whoever it takes to fix that joke of an O line.

Re: Now that the season is over who do you NOT want back?

Don't want to get caught up in blames right now. This season went bad for a lot of reasons, some injuries, some players didn't produce, some plain old bad luck. It's too hard to say who needs to stay and who needs to go right now for the most part. The whole team bears responsibility, and plus, it just wasn't our year from the very start.

Patrick Robinson
Hawthorne
McMahon

Lots of players and coaches. I would even go far as to say that perhaps either Brees or Payton has to go. Probably Payton. We need to eliminate all sense of comfort for these pampered pansies.

Re: Now that the season is over who do you NOT want back?

That wont go down well but i do think things have gone stale.
In sports in general i believe that that you either need

a) A constant turnover of role players
b) Regular changes of coaches

Players stop listening after a while to the same voice.
Look how many of the teams 'main' players have been on the team a number of years or even rejoined the team from elsewhere.Every team has watched Payton/Brees for nearly 10 years now and often know whats coming. Things need shaken up both sides of the ball. This is especially true in the modern NFL when most teams can put up 25pts on a fairly regular basis.

I know someone who deserves Jimmy Graham's contract more than he does;

Jalen Saunders!

Yes. Very very rare are the coaches who can push buttons and make the players play harder and better after they win a championship. Phil Jackson, Pat Riley, Joe Torre, Chuck Noll. Sean isn't one of those guys.

Jimmy Graham...gonen Bay

We should have kept Champ Baily for leadership.

Re: Now that the season is over who do you NOT want back?

I have accepted the game and the season.

I watched , but keep looking at it as a scripted comedy show .

It was a comedy.
Even the Saints' win last week against the CBears (a fellow helpless team) was comical.

Dropsies, players slipping down, etc.

Who needs to go?

JimmyGraham. Thank you for all your years. He needs a new team, place, etc. for a new challenge.

Defensive line coaches including Ryan.
That is a start.

I want them all back until a better option is available, either financially or talent wise.

Don't cut someone until you're sure you can upgrade.

Re: Now that the season is over who do you NOT want back?

I will say, trading Graham and using that money to freshen the O-line could really help a lot. And Watson + Hill is a pretty solid tight end duo.

Re: Now that the season is over who do you NOT want back?

Saying we run a 3-4 next season, keep Hicks, Jordan, Jenkins and draft a NT and a swing-man for rotation. LB'ers keep Lofton and Harrelson, draft ILB and a FA OLB. With Byrd getting back, he and Warren set the FS spot, SS-Sunseri should be a go, trade Bush, really hard to say with Vaccaro unless we use him like Polomolu. Lewis at CB with Robinson and find a FA to boot and develop a couple of the young guys especially SJB our #2 overall pick. A few more of those type of picks we should be set for years to come. I really want to see SJB flourish, I do, but damn!!

You are wise beyond your years Danno.:D

McMahon and Vitt need to arrange for moving vans after next weeks game before the rush hits.:clown:

Re: Now that the season is over who do you NOT want back?

I don't think anybody should be 100% safe, except a couple of the really young guys on rookie contracts. And I do mean nobody 100% safe. This season was terrible from absolute top to bottom. I seriously hope they put away all the Super Bowl XLIV nostalgia and hype, put the trophy in the closet instead of showing it off in the lobby, stop listening all to the hype and just get back to being a hungry, underdog football team again. The Super Bowl XLIV nostalgia gravy train is officially OVER. The organization needs to figure that out.

Re: Now that the season is over who do you NOT want back?

After the 16th regular season game, I would first determine who is fit to play; physically (because it seems some of our guys including veterans were not physically prepared to take the licks that are part of american football) and mentally (because some of our guys were not ready to play each down in a disciplined way).

Then see who is left. Maybe, just maybe, there are insufficient numbers to keep on pruning.

What are you talking about? Most of the players on the championship team are not even here any more. Not to mention we played in the divisional round LAST season.

Not a bad idea. Graham has been injured most of the season though and I would hate to give up on him just yet.

Spec Teams Coordinator McMahon & LB Coach Joe Vitt.

Really don't want to see another Saints kicker that can't kick a 45+ yarder inside the freakin' Dome.

Re: Now that the season is over who do you NOT want back?

Evans has been one of my favorite players on the team since we drafted him but he has looked terrible all year long. Goodwin is just a shell of his former self. I'm willing to give Grubbs another year but I think replacing those guys is the key to the whole offence. We got a great QB, good WRs and TEs and a RB that finally shows what he can do.

Honestly some of you think we would be a better team with out Sean Payton... lol wow that is crazy

nola_swammi 12-21-2014 06:41 PM

Re: Now that the season is over who do you NOT want back?

Jordan - for financial reason
Evans - father clock caught up with
Grubbs - pass protection is avg at best
Colston - too many drops
M Ingram - have to lose someone cause of those high contracts and holes in OL have to be address
P Haralson - we have players that need to play more snaps
Hawthorne - I am expecting them to address mlb in draft
P Robinson - a free agent I don't expect to put on top priority to sign
Secondary coach - need someone who can better prepare the db's

Goodwin - how he started over Lelito, I have no idea

We lose money if we trade him. We do not save one single penny.

Jordon, graham and Jr aren't going anywhere because of the cap hits. We made our bed.
I give Jorden a pass. He didn't just forget how to play and has been solid. I think he still has a ceiling. I want to draft a QB.

In some cases yes, but some of these players are like a flesh eating disease or gang Greene you have to cut em' off because it's not getting any better with em'

Re: Now that the season is over who do you NOT want back?

Graham has had a **** year like everyone else. I wouldn't be rage trading him. He is the 2nd best TE in the game.

We need to draft on the O-line and I am keen to see a fully fit defensive unit next year.

I don't think it is time to panic and some subtle changes will go a long way to helping us take the NFC South next year.

saintsfan1976 12-21-2014 07:06 PM

Re: Now that the season is over who do you NOT want back?

There's a whole hell of a lot left to happen before we can decide who goes, who stays, who gets added in FA and who gets drafted.

Personally, I hope we shore up the O line and fix whatever the hell killed our defense this year.

Add a stud LB, CB, WR, OL.

Guys & gals; we are NOT that far off from being back on top.

Good list.

JPP stands out for me defensively and I like Britt. Big target and can be a legit #1 WR.

Here's the first thing that needs to happen. Mickey Loomis should only be over football operations. Get another GM for basketball.
