Unsign Ingram and Draft....
This guy... RB Melvin Gordon. I can dream can't I.
ATT.... YDS... TD 343.. 2587.. 29 This guy fits our #1 offense and would certainly open thing up. ESPN Melvin Gordon Stats, News, Videos, Pictures, Bio - Wisconsin Badgers |
Re: Unsign Ingram and Draft....
He is going to go round 2 i would have thought.
Id love to take one of the top 3 RBs this year but too many holes on both line to fill |

Re: Unsign Ingram and Draft....
If we lose Ingram, Thomas is old and injury prone and Robinson can't hold up, who do you want? Hum...
We can get FAs and later picks but you can't get a guy like this later in the draft. So the question become, will Payton be able to resist? |

Re: Unsign Ingram and Draft....
Going to be a great nfl player, but we need a hell of a lot more than him. Pass
|
Re: Unsign Ingram and Draft....
Gordon is a real good back there is no doubt about it but I'm with Mitch on this our line has to get fixed fixed first. Pressure up the middle killed us in too many games this year and Brees watched his pocket collapse in his face way to many times.
|
Re: Unsign Ingram and Draft....
Why not Gordon AND Ingram?
RB's don't cost that much. Ingram's looking at about 4mill/season on average. Gordon would be cheap for his 1st 4 years. |
Re: Unsign Ingram and Draft....
It doesn't matter what RB we get if we don't fix the O line, Ingram looked great when he wasn't getting hit by 3 players in the backfield.
Gordon would be exactly the same, he may be a great player but our O line is garbage. |
Re: Unsign Ingram and Draft....
I'm ready to shift our offense into a more run based system. Less passing, more running, more ball control, a better rested defense = a better chance of success. Over the last decade the NFL has become more passing oriented and teams have shifted towards more two backs systems... I think that will change back gradually imo. Players were getting smaller and faster at the position so teams tried to incorporate that thunder lightning approach. But with guys like Le'Veon Bell, Eddie Lacy, Jeremy Hill, and soon Melvin Gordon and Todd Gurley in recent years, I think we'll start seeing a change. Big, strong, fast, bell cow type franchise backs. We need to get back to playing smash mouth football. That's what OL love to do... that's what defenses like to see. It'll also help preserve Drew Brees.
I'd love to have Melvin Gordon. I love Melvin Gordon. He's a damn beast. I've probably watched 80 percent of his games this year. He's special. |

For all those *****ing about the offense being the problem this year:

Also Mickey Loomis should invite Dean Blandino to his party bus or get him some hookers. It worked for Jerry Jones and Cowboys.

The offense also had the 5th most turnovers in the league. |

Re: Unsign Ingram and Draft....
"Saints signed RB Tim Hightower to a reserve/future contract.
Hightower, 29 in May, tore his left ACL in 2011 and has been out of the league since. He's had a workout here and there, but an infection in his knee derailed his comeback. Hightower was medically cleared just last spring. He'll spend the offseason with the Saints and try to earn a spot in a backfield that could lose both Mark Ingram (free agent) and Pierre Thomas (potential cap casualty)" |
Re: Unsign Ingram and Draft....
If we coulda punched the odd few yards for 1st downs late in games, we coulda done better.

Re: Unsign Ingram and Draft....
Twice in two home games couldn't punch it in at 2st and goal inside the 10 both times walking away with 0pts. We need yhe line sorted
|
Re: Unsign Ingram and Draft....
I would not mind getting him in second round if we can get Fitzgerald in the offseason. I am beginning to go back to what makes college players NFL successes. It is all about the name. Melvin Gordon is a standout name, more so than Mark Ingram was. He also came from a school where he was not part of a system. There is one dark area though...........Montee Ball went to this college too and he was drafted in the second round in 2013.
This was how I thought of things when I was more into college sports, I studied names to determine success. However some players(such as Chase Daniel) were never given starting opportunities. |
Re: Unsign Ingram and Draft....
PT hopefully has another year in him. Robinson looks great and has a bright future in the NFL. Bring in a good late round runner and we should be fine.

I'd like to positive and say that while the Bucs definitely mailed it in for the No. 1 pick, can you really blame the defense so cavalierly when Brees threw three interceptions... Even the 85 Bears can't overcome poor field position and boneheaded interceptions, fumbles, turnovers... |

Re: Unsign Ingram and Draft....
If SP wants the kid he will reach from 13 to get him. he does not care about paying to much for a RB. i have a sneaky feeling he might just do something like this in round 1. not that i would mind really. i would be happy with another safety too.

Re: Unsign Ingram and Draft....
Sure the D was a problem.
Also for sure the O had issues. That is why we keep debating, but all agreeing, that the O-line needs upgrading. That is the fact. No matter what grade the Offense had in the NFL. No matter what superior grades the Offense had compared to the Defense. |
Re: Unsign Ingram and Draft....
Well without the offense being great, all of the years under Sean Payton would have SUCKED.
|
Re: Unsign Ingram and Draft....
More Ugly Truths for Saints Offense...
Saints were third worst in drives ending in turnovers... Saints Touchdown to Turnover Ratio was 33:17, a little worse than 2:1... Offense shares as much of the loss for the season, running up the field and not being able to convert on the goal is as effective in winning games as having four three and outs and punting... You gotta get it done when the opportunities are there... |
Re: Unsign Ingram and Draft....
Need to go back to basics and get the lines on both sides stout. We can invest in all the fun toys later.....every draft has them. We can't fix everything in one offseason,so why not focus on the O line and the D front 7. Btw, I think Ingram should be resigned. He has proven he is capable of handling the work load.
