why go the FA route and get a large contract signed and the cut a guard that player is replacing only to care a huge dead money for the same year?

Evans 5 million in dead money for a caps savings of 6 million
Grubbs 6 million in dead money for a caps savings of 3.6 million

for one position?
new large contract + huge dead money = bad economics

draft is the better way to go this year. next year when the dead money is not so high then i can see it

Evans 1.5 million in dead money for a caps savings of 8.7 million
Grubbs 3 million in dead money for a caps savings of 7.3 million

so over two years
Evans at 6.5 million in dead money?
Grubbs at 9 million in dead money?

i would fire Mickey and start to question Benson's state of mind also. Rita may have been right.

I do understand it would be bad economics but the way the middle played last year ,if they would regress this season Brees body want take a Archie Manning type of pounding. Brees arm strength and body frame requires him to step up and follow thru to put his all into throwing the ball, he's not as stong as qb.'s like a Rothlisburger who can flip the ball with his wrist and have the arm srenght to do so. I do agree the draft would be better economically and the Saints may draft that way, but if they do or they don't somehow, someway it needs to get fixed.

"Ricky Jean Francois, per a source with knowledge of the situation, has signed a three-year deal in Washington.

The agreement has a base value of $9 million, with $4 million guaranteed. It’s unclear how much of that is fully guaranteed at signing. With incentives, the deal could be worth up to $11.25 million."

Redskins. I was hoping the Saints kicked the tires on him.
