I have been reading ya'll comments and laughing along the way. Too funny.

Sad situation here that Rita and others of TB's kids, grandkids have filed papers and court could be next.

This is not good for many reasons.

The harsh comments here about Rita and the other grandkids, siblings are off to me and unjust.

The real question is "Why?" The need to end trusts? Why the need to put all of these things in Gayle's hands, control? Why the need to make her his main heir and give her control of it all and everything?

This girl , Rita, has proven herself , it has been said, to take over his portion of his business. She studied hard for years, learned, went to everything NFL and stared at the bottom. She has proven to be capable for her family business. I think her mother takes care of the ranching.

When TB dies, Mrs. GB will have more than enough money/stock/shares and things and everything. There is no doubt about that. She is, will be a multimillionaire several times over. Tens of millions.

So why?

Hmmmm......power!!! Maybe GB wants the whole thing...power? Secure it all for her extended family? She is not in the position of the late Georgia Frontier or Chi Bears lady? If am not mistaken they were the mothers to the heirs.
Does GB want more than her right and fair share? Her extended family?
Moving this team? Maybe?

Many layers to this story.

Sad and unfortunate . I side with the kids and grandkids.

like i said be afraid. very afraid. I have seen this before and do not take anyones word for the truth right now. saints can be gone in a 24 hr notice.

Some one better be ready to claim the name so at least the name stays if our worse fears happen

No. In these situations, the old hires and new hires all know to pick a side and hopefully, their side will be the winning side ad allowed to stay when it is over.

New hires and old hires all could be on their way out as well and all know this because the Mrs. GB there has all HER people lined up and ready to take over in a minute.

Sounds like this woman has her ducks all in a row. This sort of thing did not happen over night , but more like years in play . She is now ready , with her family and handlers , to make her move. What a Biotch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I feel sorry for TB's children and grandchildren.

I am sure there is an ironclad prenup for the Mrs. GB. There are irrevocable trusts too for the children and grandchildren of TB.

TB is still alive.

TB is , most likely, not in his best health in no areas.
That takes TB out of the equation of his own company.

With the Mrs. and her people making her power play.....anything is possible. It may or may not work. She is sure going to try it. That is a given.

Tom Benson had to discipline Rita 2-3 years ago and cut her off then. Didn't he send her to Europe or something? He wasn't old or coerced then. It's his business. He can will it to his dog like Leona Helmsley if he wants.

No. He really can't. And this isn't limited to Rita. The entire family has been (or he is attempting to) cut off. With the exception of the wife/stop mom.

It is crazy how families get at the end of someone's life.

I was in a similar situation where my Grandfather passes... all my life I was raised by my Grandmother and Grandfather. My Aunt's and Uncles were brother and sisters to me and even to this day I am refereed as the little brother by some. All of a sudden for the funeral and all the other hoop-la. I am suddenly a 'grandchild'. Its not cool to be treated like that all of a sudden have that slipped out from under you for what could be no reason at all.

I get he is entitled to do what he wants with his possessions ect. But they are going to have to look into if someone is forcing Benson to make these decision on his own accord.

Sorry, but this is not Benson's business stylings. It reaks of manipulation and forgery. Saying things like, family members will be taken care of...absoultely not something he would say and certainly nobody's business how he handles something that personal. I was not even aware he had several wives and a number of children until now and I've been a fan since 35 years. He's never talked about it publicly that I'm aware of until right now.

We've all seen examples where the parent went totally psycho with the trophy wife and screwed his kids, and we've all seen examples of the greedy kids overly obsessed with inheritance.

the facts need to be heard first, i agree but right off the bat i smell something fishy about the whole thing.

Including the grand kids make it harder to stand up in court iMO. but lets see what happens.

Tom & Gayle Benson have an uphill battle...

First, Benson has to come up with equal value of the Saints and Pelicans which sit in the trust for Renee, Rita and Ryan before he can "redirect who's going to end up with the Saints, Pelicans"; he stuck a promissary note of nothing near what the respective franchises are worth...Fail

Second, the NFL has already approved the transference of power plan for the Saints for Rita to take over; that's not something that Benson can easily undo and he hasn't had much success challenging the league's power elite in the past...

Third, unless Rita had other plans (though Tom certainly did), it was Paul Tagliabue who stepped up and did the decent thing Post-Katrina giving hope to the people, fans of the Gulf Coast that would ensure that the Saints would return to their home, so there are influential people in the fans court...

Fourth, you've got Bobby Jindolly among other politicians who gave Benson the LL&E tower, the adjacent shopping mall and a host of other concessions to keep the Saints in New Orleans; he doesn't have a snowball's chance in Hades of getting elected to the WH, but he doesn't need this kind of baggage attached to his persona nor would any other aspiring politician want this going down on their watch...

I'm thoroughly convinced that the Commissioner, League Officials, Team Owners and Officials Present and Future that would sign off on moving the team (short of a Global Climate Shift with world tides rising twenty feet making all of South Louisiana below I-10 inhabitable for homo sapiens) would need 24/7 protection for them and their families for the remainder of their short days as there'd be a host of pi$$ed-off, armed cajuns seeking retribution (Think Braveheart, the fates of Lachlan, Mornay)...

So while the situation bears monitoring, and as was rightly pointed out, don't be too quick too judge, but fans should walk soft and carry a big stick in letting the Benson's know they need to police up their family laundry and get the schtuff rectified and not allow it to become a distraction like Junior's Unpaid Dancer...

i agree with your view point but same kind of thing happened in MPLS with the North Stars. Norm Green was given the world and millions of tax payers dollars also. All to try and guarantee the team stayed in Minnesota. All he did was lie between his teeth. not once but three times. once to stay. once when the club split in two. third as he walked out and moved the other half to Dallas. each time he was given money, tax breaks and properties to stay.

With in 5 years all that was left were close out uniform sales and Norm Green Sucks T shirts. Dude made millions in cash and real estate. all based on lies. courts did nothing to stop it. the entire state got scammed.

I know it was NHL and not the NFL but pro teams are pro teams do not underestimate the level of greed and lack of caring behind close doors. Minnesota without a pro hickey team? it all started there. so anything is possible. I just hope someone is lined up and ready to make a legal move if it is needed to protect the city and the Saints name.
