According to Adam Schefter, The Saints and Delvin Breaux have reached an agreement. Hopefully this is the beginning to a great defensive aquiring offseason.

That would be awesome!

At 6-foot-1 and 196 pounds, Breaux is known for his physicality and cover skills. Breaux finished with 33 tackles, five pass breakups, three forced fumbles for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats last season. He also notched his first career interception, which he returned 27 yards for a score. He reportedly runs the 40-yard dash in 4.38 seconds.

Are we NFL team 13 or 14?

Yes!!!!!! I was praying that this would happen!

Re: Delvin Breaux

Love the signing. We also signed a couple of the top DB's in the CFL last year in Marcus Ball and Derrius Brooks

Hoping he turns out better than both.

dizzle88 01-24-2015 03:14 PM

Re: Delvin Breaux

Hopefully he can be that guy opposite Keenan lewis

He has all the physical traits that SP is trying to bring in, 6"1, 196 pounds, physical tackler and cover guy and runs a 4.3 40 yard dash

I can see why many teams wanted him in for a workout, excited to see him

Re: Delvin Breaux

Welcome news. I watched as many highlight and workout videos of him as I could find and he seems to be a very fluid athlete and mentally sharp guy. Glad this comes so early in the off season too. Should give him plenty of time to learn the scheme and all the terminology. I hope this guy turns out to be the steal of the decade, but I will temper my expectations for now. I had high hopes for Marcus Ball too and, well..you know.

Hell to the yes. Man I've been waiting for good news for our Saints. Time to reboot and get this thing rolling in a positive direction!

Re: Delvin Breaux

Brandon Browner was also a top CFL CB, and we all know he made the transition well.

At the very least we've thrown some serious competition into the mix for that #2 spot.

Re: Delvin Breaux

I'm glad we've been scouring the CFL for talent the past few years. There's always plenty of late bloomers and under developed college players teams miss out on. I think it's an under tapped market for quality players... even if it's just for backups.

Hopefully we found a gem in Breaux. From what I've been hearing, uber athletic guy who's a hard worker with high character. From supposedly not ever being able to play football again to now signing a contract with an NFL team speaks volumes.

I like the look of this deal.

Re: Delvin Breaux

I like that the saints are willing to go outside the box and explore all avenues to get better. This is a positive move and I hope that this young man is successful in his move to the big leagues. Obviously 12 other teams thought it was a good idea to give him a tryout.

This seriously makes things a little easier for us heading into free agency. CB #2 spot is filled... Let's make a run at a NT now.

Re: Delvin Breaux

as inspirational as that is I would hate to be the team that signs him and carts him off the field unable to walk the rest of his life.

serious moral reservations on this one.

time to edit

it looks like we are going to let him live out his dream at home with the saints.

Re: Delvin Breaux

Looks like a solid tackler, which for some reason will change once he suits up for our d.

Biggest issue with this video is play 1 the wide rec looks like he beats the entire rest of the offense off the ball by a few seconds..?

Re: Delvin Breaux

Then you find a video of him thuggin, great

Re: Delvin Breaux

After last year and how great we thought we were, I'm not impressed with this signing. It has a 10% chance of panning out. Better than nothing but it could also prevent us from drafting a great CB... but since we never do this in the draft... WTF am I talking about.

I'll take anything.

Re: Delvin Breaux

So where does this guy fall on the depth chart?
Is he penciled in at #2?
If so, makes things a little easier on draft day

Really depends what happens to P-roblem and Corey White this off season

I think he'll be starting though.

I'll still go after CB in FA. The more I watch Maxwell the more I like him.

I suspect both could be seriously in danger of making the 53 man roster this season... specifically Patrick.

I agree with that. So I hope we continue to devle-in to the CFL.
You see what you have are guys who have not given up. They continue to keep their hand in and some excel.

I bet he comes in and at the least gives 100%, thats more than I can say for some of them.

Great story, I am so happy for that kid he can play at home.

Re: Delvin Breaux

Hard work and talent finally got him a chance to play in the NFL. I am trying not to get too excited about this because I still want one of the top corners in free agency. We need to solidify the corner position and give it enough depth so that injuries don't devastate us like last year.

We don't develop talent in the secondary well, so let's get someone who is on the market that has had time under good coaches. Another find like Keenan Lewis would be awesome.......and oh so rewarding.

Yeah, I definitely want Maxwell. that signing would be incredible. Still doesn't prevent us from taking Trey Waynes if he's there at 13 either.

Waynes uses his hands way too much. Has to change that.
There are some solid guys in mid rounds.

Never played a down of college football...interesting
he'll be the answer to some trivia questions soon

alleycat_126 01-26-2015 04:56 AM

Re: Delvin Breaux

He doesn't need a reason to play hard for us...... His story alone will draw Saints fans including me to rooting for him.... If he gives a 100% he could easily beat out White and or Robinson.... It's a very good beginning....

Re: Delvin Breaux

Former CFL players that I know of

Brandon Browner - solid CB, very physical
Tom Johnson - very underrated and undervalued whilst he was here, he led all DT's in sacks last year with 6.5 in rotational play time.

Warren Moon, Cam Wake

I'd say Flutie also, but he is a tool, and really wasn't more than a journeyman in the NFL
