Well, this is what was posted, so I thought, wow, that's pretty significant...

Then when I google to see Benson swung in for a thirty second response to a question from the passenger side of a car seat driven by one of the combatants, well, after watching the video, well the statement with the video was laughable...

Why the hate on Benson?

Is Benson Bigfoot?!? YET another public sighting? Again, when did I claim he hadn't been seen? Go back and read my exact statement...

Most average 87 year olds are either dead or they would be incapable of managing an intricate, detailed business much less the helm of a vast sports management business such as the Saints/Pelicans...

Hate? More lack of confidence and trust in his decision making; let me remind everyone of his relocation plans post Katrina...

And look, Rita may very well be a spoiled, 'bat-sh*t' crazy gal - but let me remind everyone that she was the one who came out to take the heat and stand by the last credible NFL Commissioner, Paul Tagliabue, to reassure a community that the losses incurred from that cataclysmic event wouldn't include the Saints...

Rita may not be the answer, but Tom Benson's past behavior is less than reassuring...

Well whatever happens in the struggling Empire, I'm for the side that plans on keeping the Saints in New Orleans.

I think the biggest issue in this won't be Benson's competency, but whether or not he has the assets to replace the Saints and Pelicans in the trust. That is probably going to end up being the biggest issue in this in the long run.

The latest proposal given to the trust manager is said to be balanced enough to accomplish clearing the franchises from the trust. That no longer appears to be a hurdle.

Yes, Benson obviously saw that Rita is not the answer. He sees Gayle as that answer. She appears to be intelligent and well grounded enough to let Saints and Pelican management do their jobs. Rita is the one that I would fear liquidating the franchises.

As for 87 year-olds, I have known quite a few that are very cognizant. My great-grandfather was in his 90's when we sat watching Armstrong step foot on the moon. He told me a very detailed story of driving to North Carolina from South Dakota and meeting the Wright brothers as they were preparing their first flight.

Benson works six days a week. That is proven to keep a mind sharp even while the body ages. You do not become as successful as Benson without being very intelligent. He knows he is likely in his end years and also knows that Rita is not the answer. I fully trust his judgement.

And that is exactly why I do not want Rita and her mother to have control. They have far firmer roots in Texas than in New Orleans.

Trending Summary - New Orleans Saints Words from Roger

Goodell said the dispute over Benson's plan to transfer ownership to his wife Gayle, rather than a family group led by his granddaughter Rita Benson LeBlanc, was "unfortunate." Goodell said he recently spoke to Benson by phone and the owner was "in his office, as usual" and was "excited about getting to the office, asking about league issues. As you know, he's been one of our more active owners in the league on various committees."
