In camp he was throwing against one of the worst defenses in the league so it should surprise no one if he looked great.

He did pretty well in the preseason opener

16-23 for 180 yards and 2 TD's with a 107.0 passer rating

I can show you videos of jamarcus Russell throwing the ball also. Doesn't mean he can do it in a game......
I've seen Griffin in the game and his deep ball lacks accuracy. Sure he can launch it, problem is that the other team catches it........

won't be surprised if Loomis tacks on a couple more years so Drew still gets every penny and his cap number goes down

Not to mention Drew will get a nice little raise with that restructure as well.

I find it amusing to see posts where folks think that the team can make one sided decisions. Brees has no obligation to change his contract. The dead cap if Brees is cut, which is the only unilateral decision the team can make, is $33+ million. Also the team would be looking for their next QB.

Now Brees may decide to play ball. But he's not obligated to do so.

this would be very disappointing. i would consider trade offers if this is the case. cleveland and the jets are in need of a qb and a mentor. yes i am serious. his shelf life is short so strike while the striking is good.

On a trade, the team is still responsible for the dead cap money from the signing bonus, immediately accelerated. Right now that's nearly $15 million.

I think paying $15 million and no QB would be a tough pill to swallow.
It would have to be a Herschel Walker type trade deal to make sense.

If the team was going to trade Brees you may aswell blow everything up and dump Evans,Hawthorne,Bunkley,Lofton,Grubbs,Colston and others this year too.
