I would prefer us go for an impact player at 13 like a LB or OL (Preferably OL). If we give brees time the receiving core we have now is more than adequate to the task. Plus, being able to run the ball more will help brees. |

We have Colston coming back with Stills and Cook. Toon looked much better last season as well. I'm not opposed to taking a receiver in the draft, but not with our first pick. The majority of the mocks have him going before 13... and quite frankly, I hope he's not there either.

Picking Cooper would be the worst pick in Saints history. Yes, worse than Sullivan or Williams. Too many huge holes to fill to take a luxury pick like that. What good is scoring 40 points a game if the other teams scores 41?

Re: Cooper@ #13
I think the offense can survive without Graham. Stills, Toon and of course Cooks look pretty good last year. We probably should go defense with both of our first round picks. But Cooper is an interesting athlete and was the best in college at his position. He'll be tough to pass up if he's there, especially with Graham gone.

Remember 09
Colston-Henderson-Meachem-Shockey-Bush-Thomas was good enough to win a superbowl with Brees behind a great o-line. I wouldnt say thats much better than what we have now |

Re: Cooper@ #13
That's not accurate...
First, Payton did everything to trade up in the 2008 draft to get the Chiefs pick and select Glenn Dorsey, but Chiefs GM Carl Peterson was being a *****; we settled on the seventh pick (49ers pick via New England) and selected Sedrick Ellis... Second, In the 2010 NFL Draft, LSU DL Al Woods was selected in the fourth round... And though he didn't select him, Devery Henderson (Drafted in 2004) was considered a disappointment and Payton and staff really turned Devery into a true performer... The Saints franchise as a whole has never really brought in alot of Saints players, Hokie Gajan, Dalton Hilliard, Eric Martin were probably the most during the mid-late 80's, so to say that's on Payton is just not accurate... I'd be really disappointed, skeptical taking another receiver in the first round... I'm thinking LB and/or CB with the first three picks (two first rounders, one second rounder)... |
It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

I would not be surprised if they packaged the 31st overall with something else to move up into the top 5 and possibly grab Mariota.

Re: Cooper@ #13
If we were to select a WR in the 1st, i have little interest in that pick being Amari Cooper. We already have 2 Stellar route running WR's. Id make Devante Parker the pick... Adds a different element we dont have. How can you not see AJ Green when you watch the tape? But with that said....DEFENSE, DEFENSE, DEFENSE!
