Didn't say that, PT has plenty left in the tank. This smells like a desperation move by the Saints to land a corner in free agency (see: David, Jason).

Well we dont have the cap space to be vastly overpaying for CB like this years market is dictating
Maxwell 9/10ml a year
Jackson 8.5ml

We need a nickel CB so this guy could be a decent option.

Re: Another Falcons player Saints are interested with.

Height isn't everything when it comes to CBs. The trend nowadays is for teams to look for 6-2 corners, but many times those taller CBs don't have the necessary hip fluidity to keep up with the receivers. Now of course you go for the taller guy with all other things being equal between two choices, but the ability to track the ball in flight and to time the jump to meet the ball at your highest point is far more important than few inches of height.

uh yeah f you're talking 5'11 vs 6'2, not 5'9 dude. We play a lot of man, like someone else said, that has Jason David written all over it. No thank you. We need a number 2, and this dude is not it.

We need a number 3 as well and McClain played well in that capacity for the Failclowns.

We can't afford one of the top guys apparently. If his price is right I would bring him in for an interview. But I don't even know if he can play press effectively.....I don't think he can.

Well, I'd still take a 5-9 baller instead of a 6-4 scarecrow.

And my argument wasn't for signing this particular player, just that the height argument is used far too much IMO when it comes to CBs.

that's an oversimplification. People want change that will actually be beneficial. I mean last year striking out with Champ hurt us all year long. I don't think we need to do that again, dude is 5'9

And how do you or anyone else know if this will be beneficial or not? Comparing this to Champ Bailey from last year is irrelevant as is his height, just ask Brandon Flowers how 5'9" works...

Buster Skrine is 5'9'' and I wouldn't mind seeing him in black and gold.

he didn't even start on one of the worse backends in the league. Are you kidding yourself?

Apparently we went after Jackson from Houston, I feel vindicated that our front office knows our glaring hole on D, and this dude is not going to fill it. Plain and simple, 5'9, no thanks

Well just keep believing that you know everything and can do their job better than they can...

Hell it's a wonder you're not working for a team already with all your knowledge...

size of wr's in this league, when you play a lot of man 5'9 gets killed

Mitch, which part of our front office went after Jackson don't you get.

Clearly they make mistakes, they signed Champ last year, not me. How'd that work out?

I wonder if the Saints have shown any interest in Skrine? Instant upgrade at #2.

Hindsight is always 20/20; they also signed Darren Sharper in '09, how'd that work out?

If you want to use irrelevant comparisons, I just trumped yours...

But didn't you just prove my point? If we can go tit for tat, doesn't that mean they strike out as often as they are right? So what you're saying is their guess is as good as mine. Thanks for making my point for me.

Always easier when the person you're disagreeing with chooses to demonstrate how your point is 100% accurate.

Thanks, buddy :)

Your whole "point" is that you already knew that McClain will not be beneficial because you don't like that he is 5.9" Maybe you need to put your magic 8-ball away

No it isn't solely that, although that plays a big part. It is also because he didn't start on one of the worse backends in the league.

We don't need to take a chance on a num. 2 corner like we did last year. That's my point. We really do need to find someone reliable that can start opposite Lewis.

If he is coming in to play nickel I don't mind it as much, that makes sense, but as a number 2, no thanks.

Don't worry about the #2; my magic 8-ball tells me that SJB will be our #2 this year...

At least I hope so,

LOL, yeah front office didn't want to take that chance, but I'd be happy if he were. It be nice to find a surprise.

I have to disagree with you there. The Falcons' CB corps was by far their best unit on defense, as bad as their overall defense was. Their pass rush, or total lack there of, hobbled any possibility of their CB's showing what they had.

That's possible, only because when you look at things in their entirety, no pass rush = bad backend. So I can't say one way or the other, not positive, but that's possible. They were terrible upfront, minus when they played us lmao
