In regards to drafting a OLB/ Pass Rusher
The draft is shaping up quite nicely in our favor. I previously submitted a thread on the probablility of us landing one of them.
The Atlanta Falcons have signed Brooks Reid, Keith Rivers, some guy named Schofield, and Adrian Clayborn. Odds of them drafting an OLB a la Fowler, Beasley, etc. is pretty slim now. The Bears have signed Pernell McPhee and although not a pass rusher Antrel Rolle. I don't think Rolle is a great signing and i orginally had them pegged for Landon Collins, which is now a slim chance. I believe they go DT or OL now. Titans- they could sign Brian Orakpo right now which would probably stop them of drafting at OLB. Most people have Leonard Williams or Mariota for their pick, this would probably finalize it. Jaguars- they've been big players in free agency signing davon house CB, Jared Odrick DE, Julius Thomas TE, Jermey Parnell RT, Dan Skuta LB, and Sergio Brown FS. I think they go BPA at number 3. They will probably be the first team to select one if they do as they get to choose from Fowler, Gregory, Beasley, and Shane Ray. They could pickup Waynes but that might be a reach. It almost makes sense though because they have no corners at all. Giants- They signed Jonathan Casillas to a 10.5 million dollar contract for 3 years. (LOL) They have horrible linebackers currently, i would take our Loftonless, rag-tag LB corps over theirs and thats saying something. They run a 4-3 with Spagnola back (another LOL) so a 4-3 OLB is a logical choice here. That could mean Beasley will be gone. However they have other glaring needs at OL, and Safety. Could go with Brandon Scherff, or Landon Collins here. Browns- They lost Jabaal Sheard and haven't done a thing in free agency. This team is unpredictable where they sit. They basically get whoever falls to them at pick 12. Redskins- they signed Terrance Knighton, and Stephen Paea so Danny Shelton will probably fall at least another spot and I assume the Giants, Bears, Jets, or someone between them and us will pick him. They have a ton of needs and will most likely go BPA at safety, cornerback, OL, or OLB. They could very well be the second team to select an OLB. |

Re: In regards to drafting a OLB/ Pass Rusher
If not another team, say the Titans are strong possibility for the 3-4 defense base they run, the Falcons or Bears will never allow Vic Beasley come to the Saints...
The Saints will need to package (WITHOUT OVERPAYING SEAN MICKEY IRELAND) a player and a pick to move up from 13 to get Beasley... |

Re: In regards to drafting a OLB/ Pass Rusher
I still want to trade down not up to get solid blue collar players than anything flashy. The more solid players we aquire with picks the way better off we will be in the long run. I like Beasely but to trade up from the 13th spot +other picks I would not. We have the best of both worlds if Payton and company play their cards right. We're sittin' with bullets all ready, slide down and get another 2nd rounder and the jackpot is ours.
