Bond Commission approves start of refinancing Superdome, arena debt

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — The initial steps for refinancing the debt for the Superdome and New Orleans Arena — part of the governor's plan to generate cash for the state's deal with the Saints — began Thursday.

The State Bond Commission approved the start of a process to seek the attorneys and underwriters who will handle the refinancing of the bond debt. State Treasurer John Kennedy, head of the commission, said he wanted to move quickly while interest rates were still favorable.

It is not yet clear how much money would be saved with any debt refinancing, but initial estimates were around $50 million, money that could be applied to any new arrangements with the team or to help fund the current deal.

I\'ll tell you what - the Colts have more sex appeal than the Saints. No matter who moves, the team will be rebranded.

Want a team that is high powered and explosive, with the best QB in the league, a top notch RB, and three fantastic WRs? A team that at least wins often and is in constant contention?

OR

The dogs of the NFL - consistent losers with only two \"known\" stars in Horn and Deuce - one who is approaching retirement age and the other who has been injury prone.

I mean, the coaches, the front office, the name, the colors, etc. are all likely to go... so all you\'re really getting besides the rights to a franchise are its players. If you get a winner, then maybe you keep things how they are and generate excitement right away. If you bring in a loser it\'s worse than an expansion team - there\'s no excuse.

As far as the Colts go...they have the 2nd best Qb in the league. Tom Brady is clearly #1. He is a winner!
