The Big Easy it isn't
Trouble is brewing in New Orleans. Negotiations on a two-year contract extension for coach Jim Haslett have been put on hold, a signal management may be listening to public criticism over the team missing the playoffs for the fourth consecutive season. Haslett has two years left on his deal.Meanwhile, Dave Atkins, who had been in charge of running backs, was fired, becoming the third African American assistant axed from the Saints' staff since 2003.
Haslett defended the firing of Atkins, denying any implication racism was involved.

"This decision was about lack of productivity and nothing else," Haslett told local reporters. He then reminded everyone he still has six minority members on his staff.

Could it be? Is a change forthcoming?
Or is it just a cruel heartless tease?

Don\'t you guys think that all this means is he MIGHT not get the extention? It\'s hard to get my hopes up when we have him on the sidelines even ONE more year!

maybe Benson took his head out of his ass, and realized that with an extension, in 2 more years, he\'d still have to buy out his contract to change regimes.

actually, i dont\' think that would matter, as the new regime would be buying whatever contract the coaches/players currently hold.

I think he will be our coach this year, but if we don\'t extend him it will be a good move!
