Stincomb... we don\'t to draft a tackle we just need to develop this guy we drafted in the 2nd round. Moving Gandy to right tackle is a good idea. He\'s getting up there in age and is losing a step or two. Travis Johnson for the DT in the first round and Shazor the Michigan\'s safety in the second or a linebacker Michael Boley is my pick. Extremely extremely deep draft. Impact players will still be there in the early 4th round in my opinion. We\'ll get everything we need and them some in this draft. I can\'t wait. Wait never mind... WE HAVE MICKEY LOOMIS DRAFTING FOR US... :casstet:
I read mock drafts everyday and everything looks great no matter what players they put in those slots. One think I was disappointed to see was Corey Webster dropping out of the first round. I\'d like to see him stay in the first. Remember he could have left last year to become a top 15 selection but choose to come back for an injury riddled senior season. Very unfortunate. |

shadowdrinker... Ahmad Brooks choose to go back to Virginia and Brimmer is sky rocketing up the draft charts. He\'s going to be a first rounder.
brooksmustgo... Very good choices I agree totally. Those linebacker selections make a lot of sense and Seth Payne is one of the most under rated tackles in the league. saintswhoadi... remember our Campbell debate, I\'m surprised to say he also is shooting up the draft charts himself. You might be right. Hopefully Campbell can prove me wrong because I\'d love to see him succeed. |

Brooks is staying in college?..well in that case..It would only make more sense to me to get Brimmer in the 1st round...It would be like adding a linbacker in essence..He could play in the box and help with the run..cover the T.E...and give some deep help to our secondary..It would be a great choice I think..especially now that the top 2 LB\'s are esentially out of our reach..

As far as Gandy goes..I think he would be better suited as a situational player..Goalline, working inside.. Special Teams..stuff like that...We desperatley need real power in the trenches...on a consitent basis...Brooks freaks out when pressured..and he is constantly under pressure

Hey papz, I told you so. This guy is good and didn\'t look phased at all by pressure to me. HE picked up a new offense after 3 years of different offenses previously. I think he would be an awesome pick for the 3rd if he is still there.

You lumped them all into one post. Oh well, touche! You know, maybe Haslet was never really in Brooks\' corner to start with. Last night on WWL Mike D stated that Haz rarely even attended the offensive meetings. Maybe the real Brooks advocate was McCarthy and Jim just always took McCarthy\'s word on Brooks. \"If my OC wants him, we\'re gonna keep him\". I think if McCarthy leaves, so will Brooks. |

Safety positions-
I wouldn\'t give up on Mel Mitchell yet. Before his injury he was progressing nicely. He\'s a great tackler and a big hitter. I don\'t understand all this talk about moving Tebucky to SS. I may be wrong but isn\'t the SS supposed to be the LB of the secondary? He needs to diagnose plays quickly, and lay the wood. Instinct and tackling ability aren\'t the 1st things I think of when you mention Tebucky. Although he made huge strides this year. I have a lot of respect for Mike Detillier. Last night he mentioned we should move Tebucky to SS. I\'ll admit I\'m no football guru so maybe someone else can explain this to me. Is it easier to play SS than FS? Does it take less instincts? Would he contribute more as a SS? Maybe the old-school definitions of FS and SS don\'t apply to todays versions. Can Mel Mitchell play FS? I know he\'s fast but I always thought of the FS having CB type skills and the SS having more LB type skills. I\'ve been hearing a lot about this Thomas safety out of UGA. I didn\'t see him play. Is he the real deal? I think he\'d be a good pick in the 2nd/3rd rounder, if we get our LB in the 1st. |

Gandy is scheduled to have a 4.5 million dollar cap number this year. That seems WAY to expensive to keep a guy as a role player. If we are going to keep him, we might want to think about either moving him to RT or to G. He still seems overpriced to me. I\'d rather take the cap hit and start over with the tackles. |

Venturi, I don\'t know how you got that quote and related it to Victor Riley. It was about Jason Campbell. stay with us buddy.
Danno, I said no qb, and you immediately talk about the qb right out the gate. Can\'t you talk about anything else? :P Now as far as the safety position goes, I think they just want more plays out of the safety. Remember Sammy Knight as a strogn safety? He was a playmakes AND he could read and react against the run. Bellamy is great aginstthe run, but he is not a ballhawk, which I think is what Detillier is trying to get on the field. You get Mitchell to play free and maybe he is better at making plays on the ball. I hate seeing our defense playing two deep and Tesucky isn\'t in the picture until the wr has caught the ball. Go make a play genius. His contract necessitates that they keep him, and he has talent, his football skills just need to come around. I think he can do an okay job as strong safety if Mitchell is the answer at free. And Thomas Davis is a beast. He could play LB in the NFL as small as some LBs go. Now that is a guy I would love to have on our team. BMG, youare right, for Gandy\'s salary he can not be a situational player. He needs to move to right for a year. and let someone else man left. He also needs to take a lower cap number to help the team if such a move is made. |
