Tackling school pays off for Tebucky?
We all know about Tebucky's tackling problems last year.
But this year Tebucky led the team in tackling with 101-tackles. While I'm still not sold on Tebucky, he can't be that bad of a tackler if he had 101 tackles, can he? Way to go Tebucky for improving your tackling. Now, if he can improve his biggest weakness from the previous year, can he get to where he needs to be? Does Tebucky get no props from some of you guys who criticized his tackling ability? |

Tackling school pays off for Tebucky?
Alas I think T-suckies team leading tackling stat is thoroughly unconvincing evidience to support the notion the he\'s a good player. Making a lot of tackles way down the field after arriving too late to make the play is hardly good defensive play. Add to that the pathetic run D for the first 12 or so games and I guess it doesn\'t surprise me that he lead the team in tackles. All one has to do to judge T-sucky is to watch him play. He has no football instincts, no nose for the ball. He never anticipates, only reacts after its too late. He makes far too few big plays. And he\'s not a devistating hitter. I can\'t recall any hits he made since he joined the Saints that made you go ooooo! He may lead the worst ranked NFL defense in tackles but he\'s still T-SUCKY!

By all means, kudos to T-suck.
It makes me nervous that the top tackler on our team is the free safety. The only other safety who had more tackles in the NFC was Adrian Wilson, SS, Cardinals. It makes more sense to use the SS in run support. So does this factoid about T-suck mean that he\'s a vastly improved tackler? Or does it mean that our defense had to rely on T-suck as the last line of defense to save a TD? I\'d be much happier if our top tackler was a MLB. |

I guess I\'m in the minority here, but I think Tebucky did much better this year. His biggest improvement was tackling and I\'m not considering how many he made - I\'m more referring to just watching him play. He took better angles and usually wrapped up or hit low enough to take his man down.
Now, I\'m still not impressed with his coverage skills or his intincts but he was definitely better than in \'03 where he didn\'t have good coverage skill or instincts AND he missed tackles. Maybe this year he\'ll ass another skill set...my vote is for instincts. |
