Re: Mickey Loomis: Saints open to drafting a quarterback
I don't want us to draft a QB yet. I think Brees has four great years left. We need to focus on getting a great O-Line and when Brees does leave, our young QB will be set up for success. Remember what a horrible o-line did to Tim Couch. It can destroy confidence.

Re: Mickey Loomis: Saints open to drafting a quarterback
Drew's replacement is already in the NFL I believe. We have too many holes to fill for us to invest in a QB. We have a better chance of landing some talent late in the draft at a position other than QB.

Re: Mickey Loomis: Saints open to drafting a quarterback
Five (5) teams have stated a need for a quarterback or are in denial and need another option:
(1) Tampa Bay (2) New York Jets (3) Buffalo Bills (4) Cleveland Browns (5) Houston Texans Five (5) other teams are unsure of what they have or are ready for a change: (1) Tennessee Titans (2) Washington Redskins (3) Philadelphia Eagles (4) St. Louis Rams (5) Chicago Bears Seven (7) of those teams pick ahead of us in the draft order, so we're faced with two options: (1) Pick a quarterback one (1) round ahead of where he may be valued (2) Trade an add'l pick to move ahead and draft a quarterback Are Mariota, Grayson or Petty worth that move? |
It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

Re: Mickey Loomis: Saints open to drafting a quarterback
I think Petty would stay loyal as a backup for that long. And as we have stressed enough on here, he is a high character guy. You don't know what high character QBs would show up out of college next. We're not getting Cook next year and character in college is dwindling especially at the qb position. The pocket passer is dying. Petty might be the chance we cannot pass up.
