Trestman's salary at NC State

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; $175,000 This is considered pennies. Did we even make an effort? Were the Saints really interested? Will we let Sheppard get away also?...

I think their plan all along was to give it to Sheppard.

the headline at profootballtalk.com read:

How bad is the Saints organization? Marc Trestman spurned a chance to become the team\'s offensive coordinator, opting instead to take the same position at North Carolina State.

it really does make you wonder why he would choose to take the \'\'lesser\'\' job..

If he had went there to be Head Coach, then I could see why he would opt to take the job..

He must know something we don\'t...or maybe something we just won\'t admit

Maybe it was because Haz didn\'t get that ext. and when he gets fired next year Trestman would have went with him after just one year

I was going to say the same thing, FV. It might not be the team or the coaches Trestman didn\'t like, it might have been the organization and the instability everyone sees there.

First, there\'s no guarantee Haslet is going to be here another year after \'05. Second, Benson is fighting with the state so there\'s no guarantee where the team might be located in the short or long term. Lastly, he may be eyeing an HC position and being a Saints asst - especially right now - isn\'t exactly the quickest way to becoming someone\'s HC.

i dont think that it is about the fact that we are the biggest joke as much as it is about the fact that the situation is unstable. just my opinion

TRESTMAN\'S STAY AT N.C. STATE A SHORT ONE?
Although former Dolphins assistant Marc Trestman opted for a gig with N.C. State in lieu of pursuing a shot at becoming the offensive coordinator of the New Orleans Saints, word is that Trestman will look back to the NFL next year when the vacancies at the coordinator position inevitably will arise.

Trestman, we\'re told, had a shot at getting the coordinator gig in Detroit this offseason, but that he priced his way out of the position by asking for a whopping $1.3 million per year.

Trestman has served in various jobs at the college and pro level, including stints with the Dolphins, Raiders, Cardinals, Lions, 49ers, Browns, Bucs, Vikings, and Miami Hurricanes. According to the NFL Record and Fact Book, Trestman was out of coaching from 1992 through 1994.

-----------maybe it was the too high dollar reason like chow. as articles have been pointing out there is no cap on coaches salaries. saban is assembling the highest paid staff in history.
