Sean Payton always keeps a close eye to the most minute details around the New Orleans Saints' practice facility. He looked around the walls of the indoor practice facility where pictures of the team's success surround the playing field.

Then Payton noticed something was missing.

He fixed that Saturday afternoon when the team unveiled a large reminder of the man who built the Saints from just about the ground floor. A picture of Saints owner Tom Benson celebrating with the Lombardi Trophy won at Super Bowl XLIV now hangs among the others inside the indoor practice facility.

tom deserves all the recognition for this teams success. i always felt he did not get enough.

us old timers know the difference between an owner that like to have a team and an owner that wants to win.

as long as we keep giving a rat cheese he will never leave.

Especially if we never look at it as a business investment and do all we can to protect that investment. The commissioner does his thing and we the tax payers built this league never stand up to him.

I don't get what you're saying man... In one post you're saying that Benson deserves a lot of credit and then you say that he pretty much played the tax payers to help keep the team here.

the nfl has been holding states hostage since day one based on the revenue they bring in. it is their trump card. honestly it is a good one because it is true. so the tax payers step up and invest in the team because of it. smart business move. the issue gets all hosed because tax payers in general look at more for it's entertainment value verse an investment. this is true in the way tax money is used state wide and on the national level. i look at it as a con job myself.

dealing with just the saints Tom is night and day to John W. Mecom, Jr.. John was an owner that enjoyed the glory of being an NFL owner and how it enhanced his playboy life style. winning was secondary. Tom is just the opposite.

the NFL is the NFL and has been getting away with games like this for year. no taxes paid. tax money received. yet they do not think they owe us anything. sorry from a business stand point we are partners that have been handed the short end of the stick.

so it is better to get screwed and win
than to get screwed and lose.

Tom acted like a complete POS, extorting the Saints home base at an all-time low...

Completely, utterly unscrupulous cowardice...

Rita may be a flake, bat-sh*t crazy, but she was out front guided by Paul Tagliabue, anchoring the team down for the city's recovery...

Recent events have me thinking Tom is getting a serious dose of karma...

Am a Loomis critic, and still think it was dumb luck that Loomis hired Payton, but this team and its fans were due and Loomis gets a tip of the hat for that move...

Winning turns things around, and Payton is the one who deserves that credit...

I applaud the class that Sean Payton continually shows as the true leader of this franchise...

But, if I'm giving credit it's to Paul Tagliabue for stopping Benson's relocation plans and Sean Payton for bringing Strength & Honor to the Saints...

It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

I despised Benson for a long time for a lot of legit reasons. He did however redeem himself by finally getting the right people on board and staying out of their way.
