Mock Draft and Notes
01/31-
i know there are a gazillion of'em out there but it was time for me to do one and see who i thought would be there for pick number 16. the many trades that could occur of draft picks and and players attained that would affect the picks is something i do not try to project... so just as rosters and needs stand now. 1. 49ers- Aaron Rodgers QB Cal- i think they will try to trade down but not find a partner since there is no head n shoulders single best player and several at some position. 2. Mia- Cedric Benson RB Tex- fits saban's type of player perfectly and he has expressed commitment to building rather than a quick fix. he could surprise with ronnie brown here too. i believe no qb in the first cuz he'll give feely a real shot. 3. Clev- Alex Smith QB Utah- another tim couch or will he fulfill the need? 4. Chic- Braylon Edwards WR Mich- one of the easiest picks to me in talent that is available matched to team need. as said, a FA signing of wr could change it dramatically though. 2nd choice would be mike williams but i think they choose the safer route. 5. TB- Cadillac Williams RB Aub- ot barron might be a better fit for need but gruden loves this guy too much. why not? he looks like a barry sanders/emmit smith type. 6. Tenn- Alex Barron OT Fla St- they could go in several directions here, a pass rusher or derrick johnson tx if choosing the best on the board. 7. Oak- Ronnie Brown RB Aub- worst rushing offense in the league takes any of benson, williams, or brown if there. 8. Arz- Derrick Johnson LB Tex- cards can be wacky on draft day so who knows? they could trade up for one of the top 3 rb's. if not they better get this best player on the board. 9. Wash- Mike Willians WR USC- shopping Gardner, high impact player might be a randy moss like pick here. would not be surprised to see barron (if there) or jammal brown taken though with 40 sacks of redskin qb's last yr. 10. Det- Antrelle Rolle CB Mia- could already be gone to ten, arz, or wash. they have drafted heavy offense last few years. now make a nice duo with vet bly. 11. Dal- Erasmus James DE Wisc- whoever they consider the best rusher between him or cody. i would rather NO darren howard for pick #20 if i was them. 12. SD- Marcus Spears DE LSU- could be mike williams if still on board here. they could trade up with two first rounders also. hey, how bout d. howard for #28? mark clayton a possibility here but probably a little too high. spears will be a good versatile nfl player. 13. TX- Dan Cody DE Okla- another team needing some sacks and the run is on DEs. 14. Caro- Jammal Brown OT Okla- tough call here. the o-line was decimated but they may not be able to refuse mark clayton to replace moose or add heath miller as a replacement weapon. 15. KC- PacMan Jones CB WV- much like the saints they could take just about any defensive player, whoever they thought was best on the board. i say jones and you get the bonus of a good kick returner to team with dante hall. so we come to THE pick. subtract the offensive players besides T and DEs and any of the above would be strong picks: barron, d. johnson, rolle, j. brown, or pacman. it might be a position to take the 2nd or 3rd best cb: justin miller, carlos rogers, or marlin jackson. the thomas davis safety pick could be the best on the board too. or yet another defensive lineman could be NO #1. it makes pretty good sense if having a shot a the best DT, travis johnson i would say. heath miller te might be okay but i cannot imagine the organization going that way. merriman is the highest ranked LB i have on the board here (thencrowder, blackstock, burnett). i think there will be a good db available at the #41 pick, i am not quite sold on any of those lb's this high, so not to fall in with the pundits but i do see TRAVIS JOHNSON DT FLORIDA STATE being the pick in this scenario. the best DT in the draft (or hawthorne if you prefer). go thomas davis, carlos rogers, or justin miller if hovan is signed. okay, i'm ready, bash me :casstet: LOL [Edited on 31/1/2005 by LKelley67] [Edited on 31/1/2005 by LKelley67] [Edited on 31/1/2005 by LKelley67] [Edited on 31/1/2005 by LKelley67] [Edited on 3/2/2005 by LKelley67] |

Mock Draft and Notes
I agree with you. If we address T and LB in free agency, Travis Joohnson is ht ebest choice. We will prob get laughed at if we choose ANOTHER lineman in the first round, but so be it. At least this time it won\'t be for a late secound round lineman we drafted int he first stupidly. Bit if we by some miracle address DT(Hovan), LB(Hartwell, Bell) and T(Womack) in free agency, then definitely Thomas Davis. Hard hittign safety who can run. Difference maker, which is what our safety position needs. The rest of your draft was fine, ot seemed pretty in line. Nice analysis.

just wondering if there was any reason to paste the whole thing over again? it makes the thread bulky and less readable.

Mock Draft and Notes
update thoughts-
1. SF- buzz is that rodgers isnt number one pick caliber. but it is a must-need position for sf and qb makes a rebuilding statement. i still think him but johnson or rolle as top overall (for less money) could be possible 2. Mia- lotsa buzz on rbs going there but is till think saban wants to build \"his\" team. if rb signed then wide open 3. Clev- Alex Smith seems to be falling in draft stature as well. with garcia they might go with best available, johnson or rolle again 4. Chic- wr lock, edwards or williams 5. TB- rb fo sho imo. saints stopping the caddy for yrs to come 6. TN- with so many different needs this could be anyone. possibly trade down also cuz of that and salary cap hell. would not be disappointed if no traded up to get johnson here 7. Oak- most likely team to sign a fa rb imo or to trade this pick in a moss trade. if fa rb williams or edwards here 8. AZ- a top 3 rb if still on board or now it seems more likely a top 2 qb might be available which would be a strong consideration. 9. Wash- i\'m thinking williams/edwards gone by now more. shift goes to top ot barron or brown 10. Det- looking for them to take the best defensive player here. 11. Dal- pick of the litter pash rusher or whichever cb they grade 2nd after rolle. darren howard, darren howard! 12. SD- clayton has been moving up on boards so he might be more likely here now since they can still get an impact pass rusher with #28 pick. darren howard, darren howard! 13. TX- next best pass rusher still 14. Caro- still ot barron or brown if on board. if not clayton or heath miller 15. KC- best defensive player on board. pacman is moving up with or without kiper\'s pumping. 16. NO- remote possibility rolle could fall this far but not johnson. i would take barron or jammal brown if they fell too. otherwise, travis johnson\'s star is dimming a bit so i go to thomas davis ga. ican\'t help but remember his clone michael boulware passed over for henderson last year. |

with quality LB\'s and OT\'s in FA, and a deep CB field in the draft, i say draft thomas davis, ss, georgia, then move tebucky to fs... i makes so much sense really... any CB we get in the draft, with the exception of antrell rolle, won\'t start anyways... why waste a 1st rounder on CB if they\'ll do the same thing a 2nd or 3rd rd. CB will do.... sit the bench
