The Advocate is kicking off training camp in West Virginia with a New Orleans Saints roster projection article. We're turning it into an early roster predictions thread. Unlike many over-verbose pieces, Nick Unerhill cuts-to-the-chase and spits out his early predictions for the Saints roster, who is in and who is (he thinks) will be out.

Quarterback

Out: Ryan Griffin

Our take: The ideal situation would be to have Grayson win out over McCown and Griffin, but that might be wishful thinking. Considering McCown won the job last year and Griffin spent the year on the practice squad, the veteran backup gets the early nod.
Wide receivers (5)

In: Brandin Cooks, Marques Colston, Nick Toon, Brandon Coleman, Seantavius Jones

Out: Josh Morgan, Joe Morgan, Jalen Saunders, Willie Snead, R.J. Harris, Lance Lewis, Kyle Prater

Our take: Josh Morgan was one of the more difficult cuts to make. He brings a different set of skills to the table and would give the offense another element. In this scenario, he’s a candidate to be brought back after Week 1 on a non-guaranteed salary.
Tell us what your early predictions are. Any surprises?

Re: Early Roster Predictions

I'd love to know why Ryan Griffin fell out of favor so quickly; he looked really good early on; guess he reached a ceiling a Payton moved on...

Re: Early Roster Predictions

I'll flip my prediction slightly at the Corner back position ...

IN : Browner, Lewis, Dixon, Mr. PJ & Breaux.
Out: SJB, Kyle Wilson, Frederick, Swann (practice squad candidate).

I would be worried about Swann clearing waivers. Kid is young and has a butt load of talent. I see them keeping 6.Browner, Lewis, Dixon, Mr. PJ & Breaux and Swann.

Not sure Hightower will make the team. Why keep him around when you have MI, Spiller and Robinson? I would keep Murphy to return kicks and to give Spiller a break as the "Scat" back.

Re: Early Roster Predictions

Cornerbacks (5)

In: Keenan Lewis, Brandon Browner, P.J. Williams, Delvin Breaux, Stanley Jean-Baptiste

Out: Damian Swann, Kyle Wilson, Brian Dixon, Terrence Frederick

Our take: Leaving Swann off the list was difficult. But if Breaux and Williams show the ability to handle the nickel cornerback position, then there’s no need to go three deep at that position. It’s too soon to throw in the towel on Jean-Baptiste, a former second-round pick.

Safeties (5)

In: Jairus Byrd, Kenny Vaccaro, Rafael Bush, Vinnie Sunseri, Pierre Warren

Out: Kenny Phillips, Jamarca Sanford

Our take: There could be some movement here. We’re still getting to know Phillips, and it’s possible an additional cornerback is kept on the roster at the expense of a safety. Swann has the versatility to play both positions.

Out: Damian Swann? Swann has the versatility to play both positions. I say he makes the club. Why trade up for a kid and not have plans on keeping him? Trading up to get him was a shocker and the only thing I question about the pick. I like the kid.

Who get the axe to make room is a good question, first guess?

Vinnie Sunseri ? IR history? IR list? Saints have a history of sticking people on IR.

Pierre Warren? Fan Fav but I am still not sold on Rob liking the kid.

Literally the only thing I would change from your list is Full Back - Austin Johnson is already twice the player Lorig is

Besides that I agree with all of them.
