this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Does Loomis make these decisions? Who does? Is it SP? I don't think blaming any one person is right... But blaming several of them, well that seems fair....

People forget the pre-Payton/Brees years with Loomis. I frankly couldn't stand him then, and thought he was horrible. Then Payton and Brees get here and suddenly things were looking up. He did make some nice moves during that period, but I don't think we would have gotten Brees if it weren't for his injury. We were very fortunate. Payton is a good coach. I'm not looking for him to be fired. I just think between he and Loomis, they have gotten sloppy with personnel decisions. Loomis has always been a bit overrated. Having an elite QB makes a lot of people look smart. |
If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.

It's about leadership, and if he's rubberstamping all these moves then he's useless all the same... |

Re: Saints waiving rookie Ashaad Mabry and Kenny Phillips
It's the general manager job to have scouts in place to make those decisions and 2014 was a bad draft that plenty of fans seen. My biggest complaint about those picks were that a lot of them were injured and SJB was a project with 2nd rd pick, even Seattle didn't take such a gamble on Richard Sherman with a 2nd rd pick, Loomis need to stick what he is best at and that's being a bean counter. He said last year he make those pick and sometimes him and Payton get in heated debated on picks but he have the final say. The guy is smart, knowing his talent of making picks are so weak that he tried to intertwine his contract with Payton but the league refused the contract which had us all sweating that the Cowboys were going to swoop up and sign Payton away

Re: Saints waiving rookie Ashaad Mabry and Kenny Phillips
QB - Great. If Brees goes down, just like any other franchise QB, it's not good.
RB - Stacked. Ingram and Robinson are ready. Murphy is a legit returner. FB - Does it matter? As good as any for a little used NFL position. WR - Good with potential. Cooks could be all-pro. Snead will make plays and move the chains. Coleman is a wildcard that I think will shine. TE - Sneaky productive. Neither will be flashy but will get some first down and contribute in the run game. No dunks but this ain't hoops. OL - Solid. Quality backups in Peat and Kelemete. DL - Underachieving. Talent is there. Production hasn't been so far. Williams will be solid on the field and a leader overall. I expect improvement. LB - Promising. Anthony has the skills. Kikaha has a big motor. They will make plays. CB - New. The word is out on being improved. Browner is solid. Breaux looks the part. Swann has potential. Lewis needs to get well. Just like every other teams 4th and 5th CB's, Dixon and Wilson will hopefully make a special teams play or two and not get toasted. S - SSDD. Not impressed. The running joke on the message boards continues. P - All-Pro. K - Believe. I think the Saints have found their guy. Coaching - I thought Payton lost the team last year. Having my doubts if he can regain it. Would Ryan be in the NFL if his name wasn't Ryan? Front office - They have whiffed on some drafts and have given out some bad contracts. Both are an inexact science. But, their grade is low. A win in Arizona is big. And very doable. |

This suprizes me also. I'm pi$$ed over Bush kept being over Warren the most, why? Bush besides an ocassional cheap shot on a WR. has done absolutely nothing. And now Phillips. Our D want get fixed with management and coaches making stupid moves like this, or drafting the way they do. We will always underachieve this way. A good D to go along with the last 6 seasons of a Brees led O and we would have raised more than 1 Superbowl trophy, good possibility at least 3 more.

Maybe he just isn't as good as we think. |

Looks to be better than Bush. In his very limited time on the field vs. Bush time on the field, he has out performed Bush at FS. No one can say Bush hasn't had his chances to try to secure the FS posision at one point in time but I also feel if Warren had a honest opportunity as Bush has had he could have secured the FS position. I will give it to Bush on ST, he isn't to bad but he's not a real FS wheather they have him listed as one or not. I would like Payton to really tell the truth on why he was let go.

I wish we had let Atlanta sign him last year when they were interested. |
