We were terrible on defense last year, and lost several games in the final seconds, and still finished 7-9.

We've upgraded almost every position except TE, yet some believe we won't be any better?

7 wins at best. Until I see some defensive improvement and pass rush I won't think otherwise.

Our division was really crappy last year too. If it were any other year we would have gotten swept by all of them the way our defense was playing.
