first off it wasn't a screen, it was a pass in the flat. that may help you understand the broken coverage concept.

This just illustrates how hard it is to fall from grace. The team sucks, the fans are arguing, it's a hard fall.

But so far I'm glad I drafted Hockey in my FFL....looks like he is going to get me a bunch of points this year...

But I hope someone turns into a Redzone threat...if not...you thought last year was bad....hold on to your hat...

you're not making sense, how about you address your comment that SP never runs the ball enough

you just said he never runs it enough, and now you're saying sometimes he does run it enough, so which is it? does he never do it enough or only some years or what is it exactly?

So back to this GAME, which is what we were talking about. he stuck with the run even though we had no success with it and were going against the best run d in the league

It's definitely not the 2009 Saints. SP has only himself and his recent drafts and big fat bad contracts to blame (Also RG of course). We all wish he'd learned better from the Patriots.

it was a screen that caught them blitzing. it was a perfect call at the right time

I am willing to wait & see what happens with the next 5 games but I think it may be time to let Loomis & Payton go. The anemic offense could be because of a lack of playing time in the preseason or it is just plain sad.

Im going to hit you lol. SP ran at the worst times in this game. Cost us alot of clock, field position, and drives, with silly screens.

when you throw the ball 50+ times a game your gonna lose most of the time ,54 pass plays 20 run plays too lopsided

excuse me 48 passes sorry

Make sure you keep ignoring how poor our running game was, lmao, just keep throwing out stats without any context. BTW- why didn't you include how many yards we had off of those 20 carries, care to share that stat, huh huh? where ya at?

True, but if you play a team that is killing the run, your just wasting plays by forcing it, and thats what they want. Just conform and pass it. Some teams you cant run or screen against, you just have to beat them with pass. Same as others you need to be run heavy, thats coaching. We ran at the wrong times and to much.

rookies are looking way better than proven/overrated vets.

Cam Jordan is huge disappointment. Can't finish plays. All those sacks left on the field. Not a game changer. Paid like one...

You cant force the run. See 2.7 and wasted plays. Better to short pass.

I disagree it does several things wears a defense down. It makes safeties and corners creep up to stop the run. it makes you less predictable when your balanced running plays and passing plays etc it opens up both and aloso allows your defense to get more rest on the sidelines

Offensive play calling is in the toilet. Defense looks the same with different faces. Brandon Browner cant catch a cold and Delvin Breaux don't know what a hold is. Couldn't get to the QB against a team with a banged up O line. And the icing on the cake...Patrick Robinson had a pick today for Chargers..its a sad sad day.

where are the stat guys here

Go back and look up how many times we have lost with running the ball 20 or fewer times

Go back and also look at how many times we have lost throwing the ball over 40 times

To win in this league you have to be pretty balanced

Re: Saints @ Cardinals - Game Day Thread

Well, we fought a good game...

Only disappointment I saw was in, of all things, the veterans...

Marques Colston, God Bless Him, the olde warrior doesn't look like he's got anything left in the tank...

Jahri Evans, former all-pro has had one foot out of the door the since that big contract and is mailing it in...

Zach Strief, wily, big-hearted guy, lacked the athleticism and committed a crucial holding penalty...

Cam Jordan, absolutely ridiculous he isn't finishing plays; said it was a mistake committing the scheme to him, and it was...

Brownwer, see why he wants to return to Seattle and why Pats benched him - he's not worth a sh*t after five yards and can't make an interception (despite two gifts) to save his life...

On the positive...

We've got some great rookie, youngster play today...

While Stephone Anthony has to learn to play quarterback on defense and flow better through blocks, he was tremendous on coverage in the middle...

Hau'oli Kikaha may just be the best strong outside linebacker prospect since Rickey Jackson; relentless motor, always trying to make a play...

Someone cloned Fred Thomas and renamed him Damian Swann as the rookie plays with fire and heart, and is setting the bar by example...

With the exception of a poorly executed chip block while moving to the next level, Tim Lelito held up very well against a varied group of stout defensive linemen...

We better find a way to get Willie Snead on the field more as we got another Lance Moore (maybe even quicker) and we didn't utilize him nearly enough...

Finally, I'd like to have gotten Marcus Murphy at least five touches instead of Ingram on those obvious passing downs...

Really believe Murphy would have converted with his size, quickness and been the difference in the game...

We understand what run opens up, but when you cant run, as we could NOT run in this game, you go pass to open the run. Its called a west coast offense.
We never did that.
SP did Exactly what you wanted, because he should have completely abandoned the run, in my mind, and pass pass pass to open the run, but never did that.
Just wasted playes to screen and run.
teams need to be adaptable, and we were not today.

everything is within the context of that particular game. In the SB we ran 18 times and threw 39. have a nice night

well forget it obviously we have different views on this agree to disagree I guess

one last thing though that's why we are considered a fineness team instead of a physical team

again i provide an example that hurts your argument and you ignore it and again you shift to a new argument/point

there was nothing finesse about our game today, at all

How many turnovers were in the superbowl did we not get a pick 6 and a onside kick as well we played a perfect game that night

we are a finesse team whether you wanna admit it or not. we are in no shape or form a physical team

I'm done arguing with you oblivious that's what you wanna do

0-1, back to work. Cards D is good but our O should be better. What I'm looking at is the Cards O is not really all that impressive, what does our D going to look like vs. a good O, say the Packers?. Lots and lots of work on the D side if you ask me.

I say it's the opposite considering the D is missing several starters...the Cards have a decent offense if they can keep Palmer upright....we have a lot to figure out on offense...we have to figure out how to get Cooks in space....Cards knew he was the only threat and they removed him from the game....he is only effective from the slot.

Outside of Cook we don't have any speed on the field....need spiller back or to get murphy some touches...

I will make my statement again and let's see if you can keep from changing it to fit your statement:

There was nothing finesse about our game today

Re: Saints @ Cardinals - Game Day Thread

The Cards are a better team. They are a better coached team.
Brees looked good.
Ingram and Robinson looked good.
The OLine looked good.
Snead and Coleman made plays.
Hocker absolutely looks the part.

Anthony, Kikaha, Breaux, and Swann have potential.
Everyone on D competed.

The Saints don't have a dynamic football player on the team. A true difference maker other than Brees.
The defense is not well coached.
The safeties are non-existent.
No pass rush or ability to cover a RB or TE.
The TE position is old and average at best.

Life is just not good when the Saints lose.
The good news is they're playing the Bucs next week.
