Yeah that was stupid. What the heck did he see in our defense that made him to believe they could stop the cards? You have a top 4 QB so you take the ball out of his hands and put it in a defense which has 4-5 rookies starting. |

PUNT with the best case scenario (barring a lucky turnover) of getting the ball back at your own twenty, if the punter really screws up, with just under a minute left and no timeouts while needing a touchdown? Really? Is it that important that we stick to the old "don't go for it from that deep in your own territory" school of thought, that we won't go for it even with the game on the line? Just because, mathematically speaking, we could get it back? What's wrong with you Sean?! |

The case is growing against Payton. I think he has run his course with this team. I love everything Payton has done for us. It's just time to be realistic.

Re: Least Creative Saints plan since Bum Phillips
That is a little excessive. Maybe some of yall are too young to remember every coach we had prior to Payton.

Re: Least Creative Saints plan since Bum Phillips
Payton at his worst is still better than most of our coaches of the past at their best. He just needs to start wanting a Lombardy again, because Im not seeing it.
This was a piss poor coached game. Wasted plays running and screening when he should have went to the pass 1st to open the run. Punt was bad, and red zone plays were auwful. I also think he cost us 7pts by calling a time out when the Cards were weak on the right side, and I think Brees saw that. |

I cut Payton a little slack because other NFL coaches seem to over-punt too. But then again I cut him less slack because they had a whole two-minute warning break to make a good decision and yet failed to do so. |
Re: Least Creative Saints plan since Bum Phillips
When Payton decided to put the ball he was saying that he had very little faith in the offense to pick up a 1st down.
