If we are going win games we have to air it out. The short ball game is not going to work. Start doing that and we might have a chance. Make defenses pay for playing short ball. |

Re: Least Creative Saints plan since Bum Phillips
The team played hard yesterday. Arizona is a better team. They were at home. The Saints were in the game until the end. The Saints have always had a hard time against physical teams under Payton. Payton was out-coached yesterday.
The real measuring stick on this team comes this week against the Bucs. They showed up against Arizona. Will they show up against a clearly lesser team? Or, will they half-ass it and squeak by with a win or worse? |

Re: Least Creative Saints plan since Bum Phillips
Bum Phillips? Maybe more like Dick Nolan!
Look, we just recently had a lil' incident where according to the police report, they had as many as 10 Saints players ballin' it up in the club, at 4 AM. That's one fifth of the roster! And I know some people here brushed it off, acted like it was no big deal, oh this happens all the time.... Well I am old enough to remember the George Rogers/Chuck Muncie cocaine era of the Saints, and I personally know a guy who once saw Kenny Stabler out at a bar at 4 AM, blotto out of his mind on a Saturday night, before a noon kickoff in the Dome....and let me tell you, folks, the players may have had their fun, but those seasons weren't very pretty for the Saints... or their fans. Right now we have a bunch of club rats and party animals on defense, and a bunch of gator-wrestling, intern-punching, butt-slapping, immature, disorganized DISTRACTIONS filling our roster, on BOTH sides of the ball. Not to even mention a Big Lebowski style defensive coordinator who is seen double fisting it at Miss Mae's on a regular basis. And yesterday, the team looked like it! Arizona had already scored 14 points before the Saints even woke up and realized it was Sunday morning, and figured out they weren't in Lucy's or @ Republic anymore, or that they weren't living inside an episode of "HBO Ballers"...if this keeps up this way, it's gonna be a LONG year, folks. They can still turn it around, of course....they can crack down and turn it around. But historically, based on facts, the bottom line is that NFL teams that party too much, or have too much OFF THE FIELD DISTRACTION, they rarely ever amount to anything. |

Getting real tired of Sean Payton and his offense, yesterday was pathetic when we got into the red zone. The defense gave us 3 consecutive three and outs and we wasted all of them. We had the ball before half time and failed. Swapping field goals for touchdowns will never win. Payton isn't the aggressive coach he once was, he now points the blame at everyone but himself. |

Re: Least Creative Saints plan since Bum Phillips
We lost! Now let's look at why.
25 new faces on the team implementing a new scheme Defense: 2 rookies starting at LB'er We lost a starting safety(Bush) to a rib injury Lewis and Byrd out UDFA's played significant snaps First year player Breaux was attacked early and often. He is still learning Assignment errors gave up critically long plays Penalties sustained scoring drives Very little pressure from the front four Offense: Too many runs went for no gain Drew has too put the ball in very tight coverage because our WR's don't get much separation. Too many dropped passes Colston needs an eye exam now Coleman needs to challenge for the ball at the point of contact Cooks had minimal production because of spectacular coverage Our TE's don't stretch the field We don't have a legitimate red zone threat Way too much pressure in Drew's face Less than stellar clock management and play calling(predictability) Reasons for Optimism: Drew looked good Ingram and Robinson can both run between the tackles Ingram and Robinson both look good receiving out of the back field Ingram and Robinson both run the screen plays well Our O-line gets to the second level quickly and block aggressively Max Unger Snead looks like the real thing Coleman finally showing why coaches like him Payton has film and a better feel for the team and how best to use them We play at Dome Sweet Dome Special teams: Morestead Hocker Murphy The Who Dat Nation! |

Re: Least Creative Saints plan since Bum Phillips
Cards defense is very good. No need to panic.
Decision at end of game was a no win situation. Both choices were long shots subject to second guesses. Our special teams stack up against anybody's. Play calling was overly conservative. And I still say Sean looks fat, which leads me to wonder where his head is. But this is a young team that will make the playoffs and with some luck and good health could be a contender next year. |

Re: Least Creative Saints plan since Bum Phillips
The passes out of the backfield were abused. Refs were calling PI, why not take some shots, bound to connect or get a call at some point. Sick of this conservative play calling and short passing game. Peterson is good but no Deon. Hoping to see this develop next week because the offensive game plan was way too conservative.
