1st 2 are BS, but 3,4 and 5 are on spot.

#1 I think you'd have a tough time arguing against. Payton is definitely not the same play caller he used to be. Personally I think it's very bland and predictable over the last 2 years. The best our offense has been was in 2011 and he wasn't the one calling the plays.

#2 Is hit or miss, but Peterson did shut Cooks down. We'll see how he rebounds against Tampa.

Payton has always been a questionable play caller. Parcells nailed it when he said he gets the fever (passing).

Its the same Payton we've seen since he became our coach. He just went against a good defense on the road, with a 50% roster turnover, and we still put up 408 yards.

408 yards sure. I read this somewhere yesterday and thought it made the most sense when describing the offense on Sunday

152 of the Saints’ 408 total yards came on just three of their 70 plays. Almost forty percent of their yardage came on four percent of their snaps. They earned very little and sustained almost nothing

Agreed. Although I'm not sure Cooks is really "ready" to be #1, but we're throwing a lot of guys to the wolves this season, particularly on defense. I see no reason not to include Cooks in the deal. It's clear he has what it takes, so just give him the job and roll with it. We have the makings of a really good team, but it's going to take some time. Count me in (but I reserve the right to complain sometimes).

My big take away is that while it was very discouraging, it was just one road game against a team we've struggled with in the past. I need to see more before passing judgement off of one game.

Re: CCS: 5 Take aways from saints loss

I can answer the first two...

1) Sean Payton is a complacent alcoholic

2) Brandin Cooks was covered by one of the best CB's in the league.

If Brandon Cooks is gonna be great, he's got to beat the top CB's in the league.

Payton's been a stubborn coach from the beginning.
