No, Brees has not had a torn rotator cuff injury since playing for us. As far I know, going back to his high school playing days, he has NEVER had a torn rotator cuff. In 2005 he suffered a torn labrum and that was successfully repaired surgically. While he does have harder workouts than most QB's it has nothing to do with with the labrum injury, but is instead preventative in nature to help prevent future injuries. You would know about this if you read his book. I have to admit, though, you do feed a nice line of bullcrap. |

Re: RUMOR - Torn Rotator Cuff
Not sure of validity, but i am starting to hear rumors that Brees will be playing this week. Again i have nothing to back that up but random tweets from unknown sources.... so i am basically useless.

Re: RUMOR - Torn Rotator Cuff
As an addendum, Brees' injury did include "minor damage" to the rotator cuff, but there was no tear that has existed since that time as indicated above.

Re: RUMOR - Torn Rotator Cuff
Again, pretty well established Brees bruised his rotator cuff. That's like miles different from tearing a rotator cuff. Brees shoulder injury was repaired in 2005 and I think that went pretty well, so unless you hear it was "reinjured" then it's not a factor.
Prognosis is he'll probably be doubtful this week and McCown will start, Brees will miss unless emergency. He'll be back the next week. Drew Brees shoulder injury: Quick return is possible, but rotator cuff injuries vary | NOLA.com P.S. - there's a lot of hysteria on the internet about this and if you feel freaked out, you should. Brees has been the savior and scapegoat for this team since 2010. When he got paid, the scapegoating got 100 times worse. Truth is, if he misses a game, the team will need to grow up and learn to play without him. I think we've grown too dependent on Brees saving us every game. |

Re: RUMOR - Torn Rotator Cuff
from Ed Werder Source: Dr James Andrews confirms #Saints QB Drew Brees does NOT have a tear in rotator cuff of throwing shoulder. Rehab crucial. Status TBD
i'd rather hear it from Brees himself but its all I got right now |

Re: RUMOR - Torn Rotator Cuff
Sheez, you can say that again. That is why I am waiting patiently until Drew speaks on Wednesday.
Drew is a great football player and person, a standup guy, but let's face it, if there's one thing he's NOT, he is not a very good liar.... And anyone who's ever seen him burn a time-out trying to fake out a defense on 4th down, knows he is not a very good actor either. So I am going to chill out and wait patiently until Wednesday, and if he's really hurt badly, I think a smart observer of Brees if you've actually watched him over the years, will will know it right away when he speaks to reporters or does an interview or whatever. He might not come right out and blurt it out to everybody, on a silver platter, but I think we'll be able to listen to him talk, and guess or read the tea leaves pretty well from that. Everything else right now is just wild speculation, guessing and internet arguing. |

Re: RUMOR - Torn Rotator Cuff
So let's just assume Brees does play. He was sacked four times, had his throwing arm stopped by a defender in mid-throw twice that I can remember, and was abused most of the day against Tampa. We are playing Carolina who I believe has the second best defense currently in the league. How smart is that for him to suit up with a "compromised" shoulder with no indication it won't be just as bad for him?
