Re: For the love of Peat, FIRE RR
That conversation between Rob and Sean on the sidelines was hilarious. They acted all nice but in reality they hate each other's guts. lol

Re: For the love of Peat, FIRE RR
I haven't watch a game since Arizona...
Just sounds horrible. Ok if they let RR go do they let Dennis Allen take over? If he does can we start asking for Vitt to be fired aswell? |

There is something lacking in Brees. I don't know what it is, but he's lost something. Maybe he needs to get a hair transplant and get a nice haircut to be more attractive looking since Matt Ryan got that lame hipster haircut now. I think he needs a boost of confidence. And it starts from within the outside. Sexy wins today. |
Re: For the love of Peat, FIRE RR
Browner could be the worse corner we ever signed well... I forgot about Jason David haha

Re: For the love of Peat, FIRE RR
I thought we should have cleaned house this past off season... a year to late but hey its bound to happen.

Re: For the love of Peat, FIRE RR
Don't hate on Rob Ryan - he wasn't the problem...
In fact, it's the same deal with Mark Ingram... Square Peg, Round Hole... You bring in Ryan to finally install a 3-4 base defense... Instead, you elect to extend Cam Jordan and make him the centerpiece of a 4-3 defense when you've drafted, acquired 3-4 personnel?!? And then you create a two-headed monster bringing in a co-defensive coordinator in Allen to boot?!? Allen is a really excellent Secondary Coach, no more... And even if you get rid of Ryan and bring in a quality DC, are you going to allow that guy to bring in upgrades at DL coach and LB coach? If you're not going to allow the new DC to set up,manage his own scheme, you're spinning your wheels... |

I think SP got RR because he wanted to one up Jerry.

Re: For the love of Peat, FIRE RR
We were actually better last year then we are this year. At least we scored more points.
I have run out of words to describe this incompetent team. |
Re: For the love of Peat, FIRE RR
I think we could have done better than RR, he's not horrible but I do think we could have found someone with more stripes on their shoulder. The offense is bad, really bad. Colston needs to sit, he's killing the offense. I don't know what happened to him but he can no longer catch footballs with any consistency. The only thing consistent now is that he he drops balls. One again today, right on the money, nope drop. And Cooks, for a 1st round he looks lost. Can't get open most of the time, more often than not short of the marker. We have 2 WR's that have little to no impact on the game.

Re: For the love of Peat, FIRE RR
its time we need to put ingram on the trade block, lots of running backs went down today, its a way to get a W.R. or a blocking tackle or even a nfl caliber T.E, please . I know I know its a long season and we need healthy backs, well throw that out the freakin window, we have K. ROB. that s a little bomb waiting to go off all he needs is snaps and more snaps he can pound a defense better than ingram, he needs a hole to gain yards KRob makes people pay. its just my opinion gents, damn we need serious regroup. and start over. payton lost his girl friend looks like, rob ryan belly shifted right and all his defense left.

Re: For the love of Peat, FIRE RR
This is nothing new at all. Our D has suffered for years. Johnson, Vitt, Allen, any DC that has to be stuck with these guys will get the same results. It's like ground hog day for far to many years but until Payton gets tired of these bums or fired thats what we get, an underachieving D that has good enough talent on it to be in the mid teens. I've said it for a long time.

I have no agenda. I have a point with facts to back it up. I'm not the only one who can see that Drew has been throwing ducks all year. The injury only made it worse. He was coming up short on passes against Arizona, and it he was doing a lot of that last year aswell. How did I get on the topic of Drew? If you had followed any of the conversation, you would have known why. You started a thread about defense on a day when EVERYBODY sucked, and somebody wanted to complain about that and say that he was tired of people always blaming the defense. I defended YOUR POINT by saying there is no way you can make any excuses for this defense after that performance, and also that no one ever said the offense was blameless. Which brought me to my points, where I called out Drew, the offensive line, and the fact that we only have two receivers who are worth anything. Fair enough, right? No, not for you apparently. The only thing I agree with you (partially) on is that the O-line hasn't played well in any game. Their biggest problem is they can't run block at all. Strief's side is the one that can't pass block. But that's the point... McCown hadn't started a game in years, had to play behind a suspect O-line just like Drew, yet he made all the throws except for his very last pass. He got the ball out quick, which is one way that you mask line problems, and he stepped up in the pocket and bought time when things broke down. If he can do that, and Drew can't do any better then complete 50% of his passes when he isn't throwing 2 yard passes, then he is clearly a struggling QB. I've been critical of anyone who has warranted criticism. I don't care if that's popular with you or anyone else. But I know for a fact I'm not in the minority. |
Re: For the love of Peat, FIRE RR
Take the emotions out of it.
You can't ask RR to do any better than what he's doing with 6 rookies starting on defense. Today we saw a 4th down stop midfield, and 2 INTs from the defense, on freaking consecutive defensive series. Points scored after those 3 series? 0. |

I thought Breaux played a lot better, and when Lewis was in there he looked alright. The problem is we give up almost everything right down the middle of the field. Rookies or no rookies, it shouldn't look that easy against us. Rob has a certain reputation that preceded these struggles the last two years. I can't give him a pass. |
Re: For the love of Peat, FIRE RR
^Lewis is still being limited?

Re: For the love of Peat, FIRE RR
While I don't think it's RR's fault that the D isn't delivering... I don't see any harm in shaking things up by replacing him with somebody else outside of the organization.
I'd love to see them replace some of the positional coaches as well, and whoever would come in should have complete freedom to choose his assistants. If anything it would serve as getting a jump start on next year and give more time to implement a new defensive scheme while the offense struggles on the other side of the ball anyways. |

I see improvement from the defence every week but its damn hard to play D when the offence turns the ball over three times giving the Eagles O good field position. It doesn't help when the newly signed punter shanks the ball giving the Eagles great field position. What a lot of people here seems to forget is that football is a team game. Its never only the offence, defence or the special teams that is the problem. If one unit plays poorly it will have an impact on the others. |
Re: For the love of Peat, FIRE RR
Yes, it's a team game. 519 yards doesn't lie. The defense was bad from the start, as was the offense. I don't know how this could be considered an improving unit in anyone's eyes.

I said somebody wanted to complain about blaming the defense all the time. I responded to THAT POSTER and got on the topic of Drew and the offense. I know precisely what you said in the original post, and I defended your point, as well as my own point of view on the subject. Taking my words that are clearly written above and turning them around completely? Now that is an agenda. |

The defense was on the field for way too long. When they made plays, the offense went 3 and out. |

We need to have those 5-7 minute drives and give the defense a breathier. |
Re: For the love of Peat, FIRE RR

All that said, the offense was just as bad. There's really nothing positive to report from this game. There was just no life, beyond a couple individual performances. There is such a thing as winning a low scoring game. If we go 3 and out, our defense has to force 3 and out's. That's how defenses hang in when their offense struggles. But this team simply isn't good enough in any phase to overcome itself. |

Re: For the love of Peat, FIRE RR
The Defense is clearly not buying into RR and what he is selling. What's different this season is the Offense can't put up the big points to overcome it.

And no, I am not going to count that meaningless 0-seconds left TD, because had it mattered, I am sure the Eagles D would've stopped it. But ***** and moan all you want about the defense. All I know is, scoring 10 points a game in go-time and turning the ball over 3 times is not going to win a lot of games. |
Re: For the love of Peat, FIRE RR

When we moved it early, our defense had no resistance other than touchdown saving interceptions on horribly thrown balls. When we had an entire half to rest and then got the ball first, drove down the field and kicked the game tying field goal, our defense came back out and didn't come close to stopping them. If we had moved the ball, our defense wouldn't have been on the field as much, I get that. That's obvious. But if the Saints forced a few 3 and out's, that also would prevent them from being on the field all day. It goes both ways, and that's just the way it is. There's a lot of butthurt in here about people calling out the defense. We're calling out the offense, too. I'm sorry, but there aren't enough excuses in the world to make up for 519 yards. You can blame the players or you can blame the coaches, but either way it's unacceptable. I have a guy pissed at me in this same thread over calling out Drew Brees, even though I didn't single him out. Seems everybody has to have a scapegoat, and there can't be a consensus that the whole team is just terrible right now. |
Re: For the love of Peat, FIRE RR
This defense is worse than the offense...our o line is terrible but it's no excuse for this defense...if you told me 4 years ago that we can have Brandon Browner, Keenan Lewis and Jarius Byrd all on the field at the same time I'd be calling top 5 defense...it's a reason Dallas let him go and we were just in denial
|
Re: For the love of Peat, FIRE RR
You are spot on IMO burningmetal. The defense has shown some improvement with the exception of a couple slackers. Take Brandon Browner and all of his killer penalties and missed tackles out of the equation, how much better would this defense look?
IMO the offense is gone and done. When Mccown started, we slimmed it down and it worked. Last week it seemed we were pretty much doing the same thing but with Drew. Now this game they didn't. When your Offense is struggling and your O line is acting like a turnstile at a little wayne concert, where is the adjustment? Where are the quick strike plays? IMO the blame is on the coaching. Im with Danno with, its time to blow this **** up. Payton has no answers, he looks defeated, he is no longer motivated. His assistants are washed up and just collecting a paycheck. If The upper Brass can get the right personnel in here, we have the players to make this work. |

1 Play, fumble lost, Eagles offense gets the ball at the Saints 13. Eagles get TD off it. 6 plays, 17 yards, punt. Eagles get only a FG off it. 4 plays, 18 yards, punt. Eagles get only a FG off it. 3 plays, fumble lost. Eagles get only FG off it. 2 plays, interception. eagles offense gets the ball at the Saints 4. Eagles get TD off it. That's a grand total of 16 plays in 5 offensive series, no points scored, and 3 TOs. Quote:
1. No one is excusing anything. 2. The score doesn't count yards, it counts points. And when the game mattered, the Eagles could have scored 11 points and won the game. But go ahead and pile up on the coach that has 6 rookies starting on defense (especially one that seems to get flagged for merely looking wrong at WRs) and doesn't have the freedom to bring his own assistant coaches. The thread title should read fire Payton, not RR. |

No one is holding the defense blameless but we knew they would suck...now that the offense is just as bad the defense is still why we loss. We have a problem...an offense that has gone from 30 pts/game to 10pts/game...i said this in another thread but Payton acts like this is Madden...instead of getting players that will work with the scheme Ryan wants to play... |
