Re: Getting back in the playoff race
I'm growing more optimistic as our young defense gels. Kikiha, Anthony, Breaux, and Swann have rally solidified two positions of need that have plagued us for years. I believe Byrd being healthy has really helped Vacarro as well.
Offense is my concern. Brees worries me. The lack of receivers worry me. The inability of Payton to stick with what is working concerns me. Mark Ingram dominated. I would have kept running the ball down their throats last night. Instead we kept seeing Khiry Robinson get the carries whenever CJ Spiller isn't on the field being used terribly. We should he actively pursuing weapons on the trade block, even if it means giving up a #1. Send the Lions whatever they want for Megatron and send that 6th rounded for Cordarelle Patterson. Bet our offense looks like 2011 then. |

Get to 500 and I will entertain it. Right now, no. We are looking better. Still not making up much ground on Panthers and Falcons.

Re: Getting back in the playoff race
Patterson is a bad route runner. Can't get open on regular basis. He won't help us.

Re: Getting back in the playoff race
We are not in the playoff race. However, we just defeated an undefeated division opponent. Next up, we got up 27-0, on an OK team who looked good against the Pats, while we were on the road, while creating 3 turnovers and getting lots of pass rush, and playing balanced on offense ( Pass 266 / Run 183 ). The trajectory we are on right now -- says our stock is rising.
Lots to do though -- we still gave up 376 yards. There are way too many penalties. Receivers and QB still not in sync. And, we need to learn how to finish games. |

Re: Getting back in the playoff race
Beating a 4-3 NFC New York Giant team at home this Sunday when you're 3-4 will help start the playoff talk again.
We need to start piling up NFC wins...oh, and get to .500 first. |
