Re: Getting back in the playoff race
The defense has given up 20 plus point leads in back to back games. 20 ****ing points! We cannot count on our offense to keep up with a defense giving up that much. How these last two games hasnt gotten Ryan fired is beyond me. Houston has a great defense and if our O isnt clicking 100% even their ****ty offense will torch us.

Re: Getting back in the playoff race
100% coaching and you might as well include the two boobs that hired Caldwell ... Mayhew & Lewan. The guy (Caldwell) was something like 26-68 as a HC at Wake Forest, how he even got into the NFL is beyond me, other than the fact with 32 rosters to fill, a few players/coaches are gonna' slip through the cracks.
His (Caldwell) winning record at Indianapolis was undeniably due to Peyton Manning. Went 2-14 without him. Supposed to be some sort of QB/Offensive guru and both areas have seriously declined since he's been H/C of the Lions. The guy (Caldwell) is a fraud. He's the only Detroit H/C that I can ever remember being handed a team that was not a rebuilding project and could win out the gate, which he did, and then just like in Indianapolis, he's totally demotivated the players and shown he's not capable of leading a team. He's lucky he's in Detroit, where they seem to accept losing at the organizational levels. He'd be a dead-coach-walking anywhere else, IMO. At least Gym Shorts had some fire/personality to him. Caldwell's like a living Fathead wall graphic. . |

As far as this 31st ranked defense, a ray of hope is that we have rookies gaining real NFL experience every week (we're seeing that progress & the growing pains), we have a bye week to get more healthy, and we have what looks like the beginning of a "team playing for each other". The latter is dangerous for the rest of the NFC, as those kinds of teams beat teams loaded with talent. After the Philly beatdown, I'll be the 1st to admit I didn't think we had much of a shot for the postseason considering we were 1-4 overall & in the NFC. Long season...it's a marathon. |
