Ingram, Ingram, Ingram
Did anyone else see him running up peoples backs (again) "as if" his eyes were closed?
Did anyone else see him stopping his forward progress so he could think about what he was going to do next? For the life of me I can't figure out why Robinson can't get any 1st down touches. Freeman simply picked a gap and hit it - left everyone up front reaching and our DBs had to make the tackle. That's not our Ingram. If he would just run to the light, I would be happy. He went down at least 3 times with no one grabbing him. One guy was laying on the ground and accidentally tackled him. PLEASE let Robinson put his head down and get us 4-5 on 1st down. It will change everything. |
Re: Ingram, Ingram, Ingram
In my opinion Robinson is easily the better back but he was playing with a 3rd string OL.
Did you see the holes the falcons were opening? You could have driven a truck through them! Just so happens the falcons dominated in run blocking and we dominated them at pass rushing. |
Re: Ingram, Ingram, Ingram
Everybody was playing behind a 3rd string offensive line but Robinson, as usual, was the best. He gets what he can, every time, and if there just so happens to be an actual hole he blows through it. When Ingram got that draw on 3rd down inside the 10, in the 3rd quarter, I thought he was easily going to get the first down. It was an enormous hole, but he just ran right into the one guy who could make a play. Didn't make any kind of move.

Re: Ingram, Ingram, Ingram
K. Robinson is Ivory all over again. Thus KR leaving via FA or being traded. Regardless of what Oline is put on the field for the Saints, KR >>> MI.

Re: Ingram, Ingram, Ingram
Ingram will never be what I would consider a goid running back. He is like the Scott Shanle of running backs.
|
Re: Ingram, Ingram, Ingram
First of all, if you see him in the backfield, chances are he's getting the ball. Our first snap I nearly lost my mind. Linebackers, stand by to fill gaps when he's lined up. If he gets the ball, he's incredibly slow getting to the line, then he gets tangled in the bodies. Just not dynamic or creative and frustrating to watch.
Robinson on the other hand... |
Re: Ingram, Ingram, Ingram
I don't think he is doing that bad. You have to consider the o line he is running behind. I really think we are doing a better job with telegraphing what play we are about to run this year hence all the passes being thrown ingrams way. The kid has passion and he doesn't always look great. Got to remember, the opposing teams D gets paid to play also.

Re: Ingram, Ingram, Ingram
The zone blocking scheme hasn't been effective either.
|
Re: Ingram, Ingram, Ingram
Give Robinson the ball more.
|
Re: Ingram, Ingram, Ingram
We paid the man so we will play the man. Unfortunately his leash will be longer because of his wage.
I agree, I like Robinson's lower the head and go running style better. I'd like to see him get a lion's share for a game or two and see how it differs. I think Ingram is an average #1 back in this league and isn't a special player and the breakouts we have seen may be his ceiling. |
Re: Ingram, Ingram, Ingram
Well, he said the day he was drafted he's not that kind of back. He's no Deuce and he was right. General purpose RB, not good at anything really but not awful either. I was for drafting him but at the time, we had nobody and he dropped something like 8 spots from where he was projected. It was a rational safe thing to do at the time. Only thing that bothered me was that against stout defenses he got stuffed in college like LSU. When our line was better like his rookie year he was doing well until he got hurt.

Two words. Demarco Murray.
The online means everything. |
Re: Ingram, Ingram, Ingram
Ingram willed himself into the endzone on that last touchdown. He plays w a lot of heart - something the team has been missing up until the ATL game.

Murray, for whatever reason, wasn't getting many touches with the Eagles until they played us... Of course. And we couldn't stop him. Ingram has no vision, and almost zero evasive skills. |
Re: Ingram, Ingram, Ingram
And people tore me to shreds when I hated them giving Ingram a new deal. He's back to his old tricks because he isn't playing to get a new contract like last year
|
Re: Ingram, Ingram, Ingram
Ingram will get you 2.2 yards per carry...
Unless you need only 2. Then he gets stuffed. |
Re: Ingram, Ingram, Ingram
Ingram has a 3.5 yards per carry, 8.5 yards per catch
Robinson has 3.9 yards per carry, 7.1 yards per catch Virtually zero difference in their stats. They are both very good RB's. Get over it. Haters gonna hate I guess. |

I just don't like his style, but the truth is no RB is doing well behind our line. I think my hate for Ingram comes from letting Ivory go, still would like to see that guy in black and gold. Could have had Ivory, J.Bell and PT as a solid group for a few years. |
Re: Ingram, Ingram, Ingram
Oh, yes, Ivory. That future HoFer, who has broken rushing record after rushing record and led the Jets to 2 SB's on a row.
Ingram hate is simple to discern: 1. Bama guy. 2. Saints used 2 1st round picks to get him and he's not Adrian Peterson. How dare he 2 picks be used on him! |

Speaking of how many yards Ivory had today, how many yards did he have last year? How about the year before? Your last sentence makes no sense, btw. It doesn't matter which running back is behind Ingram. It's the same sentiment because, again, he's from Bama and the Saints used 2 picks to select him. |
Re: Ingram, Ingram, Ingram
Just give him the dam ball.
|
Re: Ingram, Ingram, Ingram
Oh please. Our woes are greater than Ingram.
|
Re: Ingram, Ingram, Ingram
Sean Payton can never be preceived to be wrong about a player
Khiry will never get more touches even though he works hard, is more natural and has the hot hand Chris Ivory mk ii Defenses t off on Ingram They know what limited set of plays we are running Trade him while he has value |
Re: Ingram, Ingram, Ingram
Alabama running backs have holes 6 ft wide 5 yards downfield
They don't transition well to finding holes in the pros |
Re: Ingram, Ingram, Ingram
Unless his name is Lacy.

Re: Ingram, Ingram, Ingram
Oh brother. We're doing this again? Jesus. If its not Brees its Payton. If its not Payton its Ingram. Good hell. So this week if Ingram lights up the field and we win again who is the next player to get torn apart? Wait....let me guess....Ben Watson cause he dropped a pass? Or how about The long snapper?
Ingram is not a bad RB. You guys just want someone or something to ***** about. |

Ingram has been running hard with effort. I like him, but would love to see Robinson have the majority of carries.

Are you inferring that using 2 picks on Ingram was a good Idea? You can hate on Ivory all you want but there is no doubt he is the better RB. |

Really can't harp on the whole "Ivory is made of glass" saying either, Ingram has only finished 1 season without injury. |

Re: Ingram, Ingram, Ingram
OK here is a Stat Line:
Mark Ingram - 307 yds 4 TD 3.5 YPC / 27 Rec 230 yds He has 537 all purpose yards on the year. His YPC is down from last year, but our o-line stinks and anyone that argues that is blind. He's second on the team in receptions and first in YAC. Sorry, I don't think he's doing bad at all. Ivory doesn't play for the Saints anymore, so I don't care what his stat line is, nor do I care how good or bad he is doing. I care about what the Saints are doing, not the Jets or Ivory. Robinson is a great change of pace back. His YPC is slightly more (3.9) but Ingram is much more versatile (see the receptions and YAC). Robinson is a good #2, but he's definitely not "better" than Ingram. Just my 2 cents. |
