Brandon Browner

I had to follow the game by the Live thread and the NFL GameCenter; it sucked!

Someone correct me if I am wrong but it seemed like Browner kept 2 Giants touchdown scoring drives alive.

If the coaches don't do something about this, up to and including releasing him then this season is in jeopardy; even more so than it already is!

**On a side note, while the Benghazi ***** or Bernie 'Red" Sanders are promising the sun and moon for votes, mine will cost them lifetime free steaming of EVERY Saints game as long as the Saints are in New Orleans!

Re: Brandon Browner

I believe he got penalised 4 times, 2 kept drives going

Breaux had a backbreaking penalty when he basically tackled odell Beckham during his route, whilst our D line smacked Eli Manning and recovered his fumble. All wiped out due to Breaux.

Re: Brandon Browner

He's still better than most of the CBs we've had it the past.

Seer1 11-01-2015 04:36 PM

Re: Brandon Browner

Ahem.... It was the stripes that kept the drives alive. The Gnats would pull the same stuff and the hankies stayed in the the shorts for that team.

burningmetal 11-01-2015 04:36 PM

Re: Brandon Browner

Browner and Breaux were both pretty bad today. This game wasn't close if not for our penalties keeping drives alive for them on several occasions, but that doesn't take away the fact that the defense was still bad out there.

Great game by the offense, though! No holding back or taking the foot of the gas this time, and it's a good thing they didn't.

Browner the Downer needs to go ... Soon ... We were lucky he wasn't called more often ... He is a fricking magnet for the Ref's.

Re: Brandon Browner

I'm really hoping Keenan Lewis can get 100% healthy. Breaux isn't ready to follow the best WR on the other team every possession. We need 2 guys who can split time on the other teams #1. If Lewis can get back healthy I think we have a real solid tandum at CB.

jeanpierre 11-01-2015 04:53 PM

Re: Brandon Browner

Look this is this deepest we've been at CB...ever...

No question that Browner sucks big hairies, but look...

Next year we'll have Breaux, Lewis, Swann; and options on Kyle Wilson and Brian Dixon...

Not to mention P.J. Williams will have had a year in a NFL conditioning and training program and be ready for his first full season...

Future is bright at cornerback...

blackangold 11-01-2015 05:05 PM

Re: Brandon Browner

Swann cant stay on the field and breaux doesn't know how to play the deep ball. Browner is absolutely trash...

We need Lewis back asap. Our DBs look like rookies... because they are and will get better but it needs to happen soon.

Kyle wilson needs more playing time... should be slotted ahead of browner. Bottom line is browner is doing more harm then good and should be let go with RR

jnormand 11-01-2015 05:10 PM

Re: Brandon Browner

Kyle Wilson, was playing Safety at the end of the game! I like Swann...but man, he's getting concussion after concussion. Breaux is good. He's kind of streaky. I think he'll be great next year.

Browner...is a scheme guy and a locker room guy. I don't mind him being on the field...just needs to be used correctly.

Personally...I don't care...WE WON! And that game was ****in awesome!!

Re: Brandon Browner

Well ... two starters are out. Not having Keenan in most of the game is hurting us right now. Hopefully we get Ellerbe back next week.
Some of those calls by the zebras were questionable though .

I trust we will perform a LOT better against a bad Titans ball club.

I honestly don't remember any Saints player ever getting 3 penalties in one half before. Ever. And I remember some pretty awful seasons.

This dude got 4 in one game. And he was leading the league in penalties before this game.

Wonder if opposing teams & QBs have figured out how to get a cheap 1st down yet against this Saints defense?

It is very hard to understand how they can still put him out there. I've heard enough about leadership and attitude. That's empty when you can't produce. He either gets torched or holds a guy to keep from getting torched, and even when he had good coverage on Randle on one play, he (for absolutely no reason) turns around and just totally blocks Randle's path to the ball, making it an easy call. Reuben wasn't going to get to that ball, but when you interfere that badly you get called.

The guy just has no discipline, whatsoever.

SaintsBro 11-01-2015 06:00 PM

Re: Brandon Browner

The whole defense routinely got away with this type of stuff in Seattle, and almost never got called. Change of scenery and uniform has not done him any favors.

Metal,
I agree 1000%. Every time they show a replay of Brandon, its a handful of jersey. The coaches have got to see that his penalties have us reeling on our heels and makes the D look a lot worse than we are.

I'd reduce his snaps. He makes it very easy for the refs to call.

I'll take some of those penalties instead of TDs. :jkool:

Maybe he didn't hold enough.

Re: Brandon Browner

None of our other CB's played better than Browner, that was the frustrating thing.

Breaux completely misjudged the deep pass to Beckham and Byrd was supposed to be the deep man.

Later Breaux had basically tackled Beckham which negated a sack fumble.

Breaux gave up 3 TD's!! 2 on the exact same friggin play!

Eli Manning Broke the pocket, he threw an absolute duck into the end zone where atleast FIVE...YES FIVE Saints defenders were and the guy caught it completely untouched. The normally reliable Damian Swann made a complete hash mis-timing his jump.

I saw Cam Jordan jogging towards Eli Manning multiple times when Manning escaped the pocket.

It's a good job our offense was on point because our defense nearly embarrassed us.

It was at least 5 times. But that's the kind of "press" coverage he is used to. Some of these calls were bogus.

At least our new kicker, Kai Forsbath won it for us. I don't think Hocker makes the same kick.

I can't say enough what a difference having Ellerbe on the field vs. him being off the field has been. Our D actually should have cost us this game. We looked pitiful AGAIN on the D side. Spags got a taste of Payton today and our O played well (got to say that 52 points) but I think things are going to get alot tuffer when we come across teams with decent D's. The Giants exposed alot of our weaknesses on D today and I look for teams to ajust a little to pick this D apart.

Lewis was back on the field, albeit it for only a couple of plays...

Let 'Westbank' get healed up, we've had alot of guys injured...

If Ellerbe can ever get that hip healed we'll be that much better...

The Swann play in the endzone WAS ridiculous. Absolutely one of the worst plays a defender has ever made (or not made) in my days of watching football.

Breaux was definitely bad today. The most frustrating thing about Browner is that he isn't even competitive. And I'm not talking about competitive as in attitude. He holds at the first sign of trouble. You don't even force the receiver and quarterback to make a play when you just pull on jerseys all day. He's terrible.

I couldn't believe how Breaux under ran that deep ball to Beckham. Eli ended up with some highly inflated stats with the number of botched plays in our secondary.

We won and I am ecstatic but at the same time I am a little down cause our defense didn't show up. Beckham expose Beaux, Browner avg 2 game changer penalties a game, Swann will be lost at least 2 games, Payton won't stay out of RR face,

What I don't understand is how those refs can catch our db's on holding or pass interference but they couldn't see that Snead was pass interfered on a crucial 3rd down. I know people might see the play Breaux as holding but I see it as legal especially compared to the one with a db riding the back of Snead. You don't have to listen to the announcer to tell right from wrong when you know the rules of this game

The refs were calling the game 1 way no doubt, however Browner basically asks for it every play.

I feel the same way you do though, great game for our offense but the defense has me concerned more than ever. Since the 3rd qtr of the Colts game they have played like ****. 6 QTRs of bad football from the Defense. I am shocked that RR still has a job, his ass ought to be gone win or loss.

Nola, when Browner holds ... he HOLDS. The WR's shirt is out, pulled and its very obvious. He makes it so easy for the zebras to see.

His play has been very poor up to this point & has been beaten like a Pearl snare drum :band:. Gotta somehow limit his snaps.

I see BB as a liability out there.

Loved Breaux last week. Hate him this week. He is learning. Also, he is the the most exciting cornerback we have seen around here in a very, very long time. Browner's roster spot, on the other hand, could be improved. But, I think this is a coaching tolerance issue. The Seahawks, as a matter of policy, didn't mind the penalties.

Re: Brandon Browner

Take it easy on Breaux, take a great hands receiver like Beckham who just happens to run like a 4.3 40, and mix in a Hall of Fame QB and there you have it. Breaux will learn, just wasn't his best day against an elite WR/QB combo. Now regarding Browner, what in the world... I do love Browner, but he really needs to stop with the penalties. He needs to realize too that he is a marked man and will not catch any breaks from officials.

Agreed. OBJ is a top 5 WR in the league. Nobody can play a great game against that kind of talent every week.

dizzle88 11-02-2015 07:22 AM

Re: Brandon Browner

No doubt OBJ is a top 5 receiver but the none of the TD's he scored had anything to do with talent, especially the last one, Both Breaux and Byrd just completely failed to judge a ball in the air.

The first two were simply a failure of not watching tape on the Giants tendencies in the red zone.

My thought exactly! That's the way he played when he was with the Seahawks and they were very seldom penalized! Hopefully he can learn that the rules do apply when you're with another team!

Re: Brandon Browner

Being an LSU fan aswell, I've watched Odell for a while. One thing he is not is physical. He's a great athlete, and he can make the circus catch, but he's not a guy who typically deals with a lot of physicality, unlike his old teammate, Jarvis Landry, who is one of the toughest dude's I've ever seen on a football field.

Breaux is very physical, sometimes to a fault, though he actually has cover skills unlike Browner. I expected that it would be very hard for Beckham to get many big plays on him. I thought Breaux's style of play would wear on him. But Delvin got sucked into so many traps (rubs) and things like that, he was rarely in position to make a play. And the long touchdown he gave up was a total misjudgement of the flight of the ball. To sum it up, he gets really clumsy at times. All the talent is there, and I do recognize that he's young. This is just an observation of what I see right now.

And Eli is not a Hall of Famer, by the way. If he got in that would be on name only.

Agree, and to steal an overused phrase from Payton, we'll get that cleaned up.

The future is so bright for this kid, he just has to break some of those old CFL habits.

I'll bet he practices on that rub play all freaking week long.

Yall ready for this?

The defense ROCKED yesterday.
How many times did they STUFF the run?
I saw pressure, aggressiveness, and of lot of great play from the D.
2 of the Giants TDs were freak accidents, the last passing TD was a pinpoint laser from Manning, and a Lynn Swann catch.
People, Eli Manning, and his receivers, particularly the guy from Newman,
were on fire! The '85 Bears couldnt have kept these guys out of the endzone.
Mostly, Like Marques Colston. They got it done, when it counted. Giants last
series was a PUNT.

This D has come a long way, and will get better.
Very encouraged.

You're right. You don't need to be an expert to see how close this defense is to putting it together. Tons more great plays than we've seen in the past.

We look like an unguided missle. We're close, very close to becoming a solid defense.

Did ya'll know that both Kikaha and Humber left with injuries yesterday?

We played with Anthony, Edebali and Mauti for a lot of the game.

350 passing
87 rushing

437 total yards

even with taking all the penilities into account we have a long long way to go.

Finally, someone who saw it the way I did. I know the D gave up a lot yesterday but they looked good on a lot of plays. The run D looked better than it had and when you get two QB's as dialed in as Brees and Manning were, you're right, the '85 Bears, the Steel Curtain, the Doomsday Defense, you name them, couldn't have stopped that show those two put on.

Dunbar who was signed like yesterday just rocked that RB near the goal line. We got 2 sacks from backups. Jenkins looked solid in the middle just beating up the C at times. Kevin Williams had a great start to the game.

The two rub play TDs are tough to deal with when you are in man. If we wer in zone those would not be scores.

+1. These guys are very encouraging... Edebali was blocked and Eli was in his grasp ... dude reached around the man in front of him and brought Manning to the ground. Outstanding individual effort.

Check out this stat on Anthony ...

Ranked - 9th in terms of total tackles at the position.
Passes defended - 2nd overall.
Overall tackles - 17th in all of the NFL

This guy is a ROOKIE. Wait until Jeff Ireland get us a nasty DE/NT alongside of him.

Side note: I thought Kevin Williams played like a grown a#$ man yesterday.

Trust and believe :bng:.
