Bledsoe good match for us?

OK, this discussion is about Bledsoe and I am discussing Aaron in a peripheral way with the assumption that he will be back as our QB next year. Any discussion about whether he should be or shouldn’t be can be found in 800 other posts in this forum. Thanks.

It was on ESPN that the Bills released Bledsoe. Am I the only one who thinks that this would be a good match for us?
• After his tenure in Buffalo he cannot expect a BIG MONEY contract (I wouldn’t think so at least), or even necessarily expect to come in as a starter with a new team. This being said if we can get him fairly cheap, I for one, believe he still has some gas left in his tank and probably has something to prove.
• As with Drew Breeze, I think it would help Brooks to have some legitimate competition on the bench or even in camp (as it is right now, I don’t think Aaron is too worried that his current back-ups might over take him, therefore no pressure.)
• If you can give him some protection Drew can be deadly, I know we need to shore up our O line (but unless we trade for Mike Vick - you are going to have to do that anyway.)
• Can it be any worse than bringing in washed up Warner or some young mostly unproven QB. (I have heard a few peeps mention that they thought Volek with Tennesse, Gerard from Jax, Schaub from Atl ,and a few others might be good replacements for Aaron. I have two words for those people: Todd Bouman. Before we got him, when he came in for Culpepper in Minnesota, he looked like a real game breaker, but has looked like a knuckle head since he’s been here.

Just my opinion but if I was GM and the price wasn’t too high I would bring him in, and throw the starting job into an open competition. At the very least I would feel better seeing him on the bench than our current cast of back-up clowns.

Bledsoe wouldn\'t come here.. he\'s a Northeast guy.., especially for little money.. for lilttle money, he\'d go back to the Patriots, I bet... he may even retire after his release, who knows...

.. anyway, no one will be coming to N.O. to compete for the starting job...

i do like a veteran brought in to push, compete, and be a guy haz might actually insert during one of those 3 fumble days. it is all about price tho, bang for the buck with the cap. i think ya could afford 1, maybe 2mil with incentives for someone like that. if ya can get a bledsoe, garcia, or whoever for that, i dunno. mike mcmahon i bet fo sho. beyond 2mil we would have to be rid of our 6million dollar man currently behind center. i for that too, even with some of those other names IF the 3-4mil saved resulted in seeing a coupla of edge hartwell, samari rolle (he can make some head shots), etc. types added to the defense.

the easy money is on bledsoe back with the man who drafted him in dallas.

Tobias - I don\'t think Drew is going to have a whole lot of options to go to (if he doesn\'t retire) and is there any team out there that would be looking for a QB that has a better (potentially yeah I know) receiving corp than us?
And Haz HAS to know that if doesn\'t produce this year his run is over, I think that should make him desperate enough to bench Brooks if he has a quality replacement on the bench.

LKelly -Yeah, I thought about the Parcells/Bledsoe combo too, but Bill already has an old veteran on his team, I would think they would go young(er) if they bring somebody in.

Actually I tink Dallas will make a play for him as well as Miami, San Fran and evern perhaps Green Bay (If Favre retires). As for the Saints -- I would think he may be okay as a backup

Unless there is noone else available...and I mean NOONE...We shouldn\'t even attempt to make a play for Bledsoe..

I watched him play several times over the past few year with Buffalo..My brother\'s favorite team...and I can personally tell you..he is not even a shadow of what he used to be...and..He would get slaughtered behind our shaky O line...

And..He would want too much money...He just isn\'t a good fit..truth be told..if Losman would have been able earlier..He would have started in place of Drew last year...

papz i cant say i disagree. i was looking at it when they said he would be released. wondering if there was a fit here or not. but im not sure he has it anymore. he has looked really bad. even when willis came in and they had a strong running game he looked not to good. i would pick brooks over him right now also. him and bouman well who even cares. i couldnt tell you if either was better

I feel like this thread is really a discussoin between two drunks at the \"ALL UGLY BAR\" and there are two heffers still left.

Get a grip, Kitna, Warner and potentially Brees can be brought in without a radical overhaul of the offense.

Why bother talking about has been\'s and about to never be\'s.

That\'s the rap on Bledsoe, and yes, I too would prefer watching Brooks over Bledsoe. Like him or no, you have to admit that AB does have his moments, and he does have a cannon for an arm. If you don\'t believe me, read his book, he will tell you.
